I will take charge and start a new thread for the Boston Whaler continuousWave Rendezvous at Lake Lanier, Georgia on Saturday September 23, 2006.

10:00 AM - Launch from Charleston Landing Boat Ramp

12:00 Noon - Meet at Dockside Grill at Holiday Marina for lunch

Make a leisure convoy to Brown's Bridge.

I personally will be trailering back to Fayetteville, GA the same day and will head back to Charleston Landing at the end of the day.

GAWhale - That sounds good. Even if we only have 4 or 5 boats show up we should have a great time. I'll be checking back. Garey

Garey- What say we put in a little early at Lanier Park and plan on meeting those folks at Charleston at 10am?-k

Hey just throwing it out there, I drove by Charleston last night and the courtesy dock is totally dry, not even close to the water. Also drove by Little Hall which is off 53 and their courtesy docks are still accessible.

Does that matter to anybody? For launching, I guess you just beach it if solo or wade out there if you have someone else in the boat. Plenty of beach for meeting up at the park though so that is a plus.

GAwhale posted 09-09-2006 11:48 AM ET (US)     Profile for GAwhale  Send Email to GAwhale
I will have my wife and 8 year old daughter along so a courtesy dock would be nice.

I looked at a map and Little Hall seems easy enough to find.

I will plan on launching from Little Hall at 10:00 AM.

Thank you for researching this superdave_gv.

As of last Friday both Lanier Park and the docks at the ramp adjacent (down the Dam Store road) had water under them. I'll update this next Friday-k

K -I was planning on putting in a little early anyway. We can meet at Lanier point then cruise up to Little Hall or wherever some of the others are putting in.- Garey

Ill be putting in at Shoak Creek. I might just hang out at the Gaines Ferry beaches (they are close to Holiday) with the kids and let them play on the beach and tube for a bit... then meet up with you all for lunch at Holiday at noon.

BTW, does Holiday have enough courtesy docks?

Sorry, that should read Shoal creek. Its late...

Murphy- we'll be looking for y'all on the Lake! Garey and I will put in at either Lanier Park or the Dam Store. A little closer to time it might be helpful to have a list of cellphone #'s to ease in contacting everyone on Saturday. If you like you can send them (email) to me and I'll distribute the final list a couple days before the Rendezvous. -k

Murphy-Dockside Grill usually has plenty of slips. I have been there several times by boat and never had a problem. If we meet there at or right before noon we sould be able to get a few tables right on the deck. The food is really good there also.

Just got off the lake after a beautiful but fishless morning! Both Lanier Park and East Bank (by the Dam store) have courtesy docks with water under them, not much water, but enough to keep 'em floating! So far I have recieved 3 cellphone #'s and will email the list sometime next week. Has anyone heard from Skip Robinson lately? I have emailed him with no response- hope he's okay! -k

I was out on Lanier on Sat. We stopped by dockside grill for lunch. The lake is very low but there still should be plenty of slips. We got there about 12:15 and it wasn't to busy. It started to get bust after one. I think the noon meeting time will allow plenty of slips. See the link below:

I went out on the lake Saturday also. We headed up to Browns bridge to scope it out b4 next weekend. I have never been that far up the lake before, and it was a shorter trip than I expected. The weather was the best of the summer I think too. Hopefully next Saturday will be as good. Went to Dockside for dinner and it was busy, but slips available. I am curious- Garey... those slips in your picture appeared to be blocked off when I was there and I thought it was because of the low water. Were they open at lunchtime? If so, maybe they were closed because the fuel dock was closed.

Murphy - There was some sort of pole in the water but I just pulled right in. There were also several boats in those same slips when we left. G

I noticed the forecast for Saturday is scattered thunderstorms. Should we have a rain date or contingency in case of foul weather?

minitauk85 posted 09-18-2006 08:33 PM ET (US)     Profile for minitauk85  Send Email to minitauk85
Just got done emailing cellphone #'s to all involved. I suppose it's a good idea to have a back up plan in case of bad weather! I am open to suggestions, however a 40% chance of showers doesn't concern me too much at this point! The forecast is usually about 12 to 24 hours premature this far out (I would guess that Saturday night,Sunday morning will shake out as more likely for rain). -k

Good news and bad news- Traci at BW came through and is shipping us some BW embroidered fleece blankets!! The bad news is that I am not sure if they will make it by Saturday. :-(

If they don't I can hold on to them until next time. Maybe we can have another one in the spring to kick off the boating season in 2007.

Great news!! I called Traci today to check on the ship date- it wasn't coming until next week. She called the distributor and is having them overnight the package so we can have it for Saturday. Traci, you are awesome!

Murphy - Nice Job! I hope the weather holds out. it doesn't look to bad right now. I'll also be going solo, but I say the more the merrier, bring whoever. If the weather starts to turn bad in the afternoon I might cut out a little early and start my drive down to St. George, Montauk in tow. I'm on vacation next week. (Finally!) Looking forward to meeting some Whaler Folks. - Garey

Can someone post directions (by water) to Holiday Marina from the Dam? I have done numerous searches and haven't been able to find a map online for this! I have never been to Holiday Marina/ Dockside grill! Looks like the weather won't be too bad- calling for rain chances to increase Saturday evening into Sunday-k

Murphy - Great job on the BW fleece blankets!

My wife and eight year old daughter will be joining me.

I will have my hand held VHF radio on Channel 25. I just picked up my boat from the shop (and hope I will not need a tow on Saturday).

If the weather turns ugly on Saturday, I plan on drivng to Dockside Grill and leaving my boat on the trailer.

Regards, Philip

Holiday Marina is pretty easy to get to. Head over to Shoal creek and you'll see the Lanier Island bridge. Go Under the bridge and just skirt the shore on the right side and it will take you right to the Holiday Marina. The first cove has tons of boats, keep going and go in the middle entrance I think. There is a big sign that says Dockside Grill and Fuel. Just go on to the back and you'll see the slips where you can tie up. It almost looks like you won't be able to get back there but you shouldn't have any problems. Garey

Went out fishing this morning, wind blowing from the east around 8-10 mph. Had a couple showers blow through but after that it turned "nicer"- overcast and windy but fun! Also landed a 12 lb striper at the mouth of Bald Ridge, what made that all the more fun is that I was surrounded by guides, could have thrown a plug in each one of their boats! See y'all tomorrow! -k
Murphy posted 09-22-2006 03:14 PM ET (US)     Profile for Murphy  Send Email to Murphy
Ill be putting in at Shoal Creek around 10:30- if all goes according to plan. Ill cruise around and look for minitauk and 1980Montauk b4 heading to Dockside. My wife has decided to remain on land and she and my daughter will meet us at Dockside. My 2 sons will acompany me in the boat. Let's hope for good weather- at least until the afternoon.

GAWhale, if you need a tow I will offer my help. :-) Last time I was out, we towed in a 21' Glasstron I/O that weighed about 6k lbs. Looked kind of funny towing that with the 13'.

I'm also in for the next rendezvous. The next time we beach, we will have our boats anchored with the bows facing the water. Those waves caught us all by surprise. I brought my boat home last night and washed the sand out.

I enjoyed lunch at The Dockside Grill. My daughter is still raving about the rasberry slushie which came with an umbrella.

The Boston Whaler embroidered fleece blankets were a nice gift.

Murthy,
Thanks for the pics, it looks like you guys had a great time. I got out of the hospital on Saturday evening. I have been kind of out of it until last night when I was wondering how it went. You don't know how much I was looking forward to a Lanier gathering. I really am bummed when I found out I had to go in the hospital and miss this thing. I would of really loved one of those blankets...Maybe next time. Glad to see everyone had a great time. Post more pics if you can. Take Care

Anyone know who owns a classic 22' cuddy on Lake Lanier? I was taking my son to Cub Scouts the other night near Holiday marina and one passed us going that way. I believe it was being towed by a suburban.
