Joy and I will be there Friday and Saturday night. We have reservations at the Gables. (The lady at the Front Desk says she just loves it when a group comes in). This is one of our closer rendezvous. According to MapQuest, Old Town is only 350 miles and six hours from Charleston. We are bringing the 15. Is a twelve-gallon tank big enough? Do we need bug spray? Anything else that we might not ordinarily bring? Thanks, --WhalerAce |

What? You normally don't bring fuel or bug spray? :) 12 gallons is overkill. Bring something native from SC that you can not get here for dinner sat night(if we can BBQ @ Gables). I will get some crabs or mullet. |

Weather permitting, we'll probably motor the Outrage 22' up the river from Suwannee for the day on Saturday.Appreciate any GPS #'s on shallow spots. Haven't been that far upstream in a long time. Don

We plan to be there if we can get the boat back together. Tried to refinish the transom after removing the platform which left many holes. The first coat of paint drew a thousand love bugs. That's 2 per spot in the paint. Maybe they will get tired and go home. Jim |

My family and I will be there Friday afternoon. I have a reservation at Gables, but sounds like I my boat is too big to launch at their ramp from FNO's report. How far away is the state ramp? I also could use the GPS shallow spots list. Our first rendevous after years on CW membership! |

The public ramp is just a couple miles South of the Gables off of 19.It is on a dirt road off the Southbound side of highway 19 just before/after the Suwannee bridge. I'll draw a crappy map. The list of shallow spots won't be ready till Weds. or Thurs. as I am still in Texas till Weds. I thought I was going home yesterday. |

Roger, FNO. Is there a better paved ramp (public or private)? Just need to launch/recover since will tie it up at the Gables for the stay. Have a safe trip back from TX.

The public ramp is the better one. It is concrete and has a floating dock to tie up at. That's where I put my Outrage in and out. Just gotta watch the passsing boat wakes when you load and unload. |

Nick, how many in your crew, or is the number still a moving target? |

Looks like 2 but "maybe" 3 or 4. Yeah still moving. Count on 2 though...seems like EVERYONE is a flake this week. For 3 months..."I wanna do a suwannee trip....I wanna do a trip!". Then they flake at the last moment, guess they lied about having a room because it is too late to cancel and no mention on who wants a free night. Most don't appreciate how difficult it is to put one of these together and you REALLY feel like a schmuck when 3 boats show up. Ace you still in? UR last man standing from our original crew. |

OK, I'm behind the 8 ball time wise, but I will be out on the river tomorow afternoon. Geve me a heads up when you get on the road or close to Fanning. 352-650-9521 Also, if you need any help finding the Gables call me. Oh, I haven't had time to compile the GPS numbers for the shallow spots so I will give a quick brief on Sat. morning. Friday people will get the info man'ana. |

Whoever hasn't hit the road yet. The grills at the hotel are state park style. You need charcoal, lighter fluid and a wire brush to clean the rust from the grate for your grub. It looks like a great weekend is ahead of us. I'm thinking a cruise upriver for Saturday as there are more springs and a bar for Len. Sunday morning if we are willing and able we can motor down to Manatee Springs which is not too far for a morning cruise and be able to hit the road around noon. |
