I've seen a few knuckleheads going out for their traps but overall the boat ramps are pretty quiet. The only guys going out are using these small foam filled platforms called surfboards... apparently in search of sharks.

The Navy's models go out through Friday afternoon, and it's
big till then, and the obvious extrapolation says big for
a couple more days after that at least. There MIGHT be a window Wed.
afternoon or Th. morning to pull your pots (if they haven't
been ground to scrap metal).

Exactly Chuck..

I've pretty much written off the pot that is out there. The crabs would have suffered the same fate as a pinball in a pinball machine. Probably food for sea stars and octopus.

At work yesterday we were installing some barbecues when the big 16 footers came crashing over the jetty, and that's after being broken up by land at Bodega Head. Out at Bodega Rock it was all Mavericks sized rollers with the top 7 or 8 feet being pure white foam.

The Whaler would swamp on the first hit and fish food from there on.

If I didn't have jury duty for the next 2 weeks, I'd try to get out on Tuesday or Wednesday for a peek around the corner.

Chuck, you have a great website.

Well, as of today I'm free from jury duty.

Too bad the seas aren't cooperating with my crab and rockcod plans. The seas have been like this since the crab opener a month ago.

SWELL 12 TO 14 FT BUILDING TO 16 TO 20 FT. CHANCE OF RAIN.

TUE
W WINDS 5 TO 15 KT. WIND WAVES 1 TO 3 FT. W SWELL 16 TO 20

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.

A buddy of mine picked up 36 pots in 150-200 of water near the Russian River last week and hauled in a whopping 12 crabs.

It's been an ugly crab season. The salmon season wasn't much better.

Here's to a better New Year!
