We are trying to get a rendezvous together for April 28th on the Aneclote river or the Cotee river just north for Saturday the 28th. Good ramp nearby and PLENTY of hotels as well. Neat place with great heritage and Greek food on the sponge docks, etc.

Who is in?

We are going to make a weekend out of it.

We are planning to drive our motorhome to Tarpon Springs and stay a few days. We will be towing the Outrage so we will be looking for a campsite with a boat ramp. Any suggestions?

Count us in!!

I'm in.

Jim, there's a KOA (sp?) on US 19 in Tarpon Springs, but no boat ramp- you can keep your boat at my place if you want

Stefan,

Thanks for the invitation. You might have company if we can't find a place that will accommodate all our hobbies.

The thing that is really interesting about this forum is that there are a few people that have Seacrafts. My last power boat was a 20 foot Seacraft. I ran that boat to the Bahamas from Miami and to the Dry Tortagas from Flamingo in the Everglades. Great boat. I sold that in 1972 and purchased a 27 foot sailboat.

Looking forward to this get-together.

There is a SeaCraft rendezvous going on at the same time on Aneclote island so SeaCrafts are more than welcome. my bud is bringing his 23 instead of his Montauk.

We reserved a place on the Anclote River to park the RV and launch the boat. We will be there on Friday the 27th. Cell is 352-274-0748

Anclote Island sounds like a good place to get together, weather permitting. We are looking forward to seeing Tarpon Springs and trying some of that wonderful food.

Is there a hotel/motel that is central to our needs for this event? I don't have an RV and and I don't sleep on the ground anymore, unless alcohol was involved.

There are some marina hotels on clearwater beach. I may run the larger boat up from my house or the 15' on a trailer, either way I will want to stay on the water. Let me know if any body finds a place, I'll look around the net too.

We stayed here last time. In the heart of Clearwater Beach. Its a place to crash, not the ritz, very clean, but my choice worth doing. Lots of amenities with in walking/crawling distance.

Just north of Hwy 60 clw on the intercoastal is a boatramp called Seminole Boat ramp.
Seminole Street boat ramp just north of downtown Clearwater is run by the City of Clearwater and I believe it is around $5.00 is also open all night.
This is rightaround the corner from the hotel, 5 minute intercoastal ride to the hotel and is an a southern alternitive if ya wimp out and not put in by Stephans.

Guys....clearwater is pretty far out of the way. The ramp where we put in is actually in Holiday. There are plenty of hotels on 19 nearby, some are dog friendly as well.

88, Out.

We decided to not bring the 13 this time - we'll be on heavy duty scouting mission and sure are looking forward to it.

I am going to try to make it. I suspect we will do a day adventure if I can get the passengers up early. I will need to find a good ramp, I haven't put in up there before. I look forward to actually meeting some members in person.

There is a nice hotel on tarpon river that has a Sam's Selzer's as well...pretty resonable for how nice $75?

There are also many more north for less, check out Holiday. Then agin it is season so who knows. Try Expedia or Hotels.com

Honestly there are MANY hotels in the area. Not necessarilly on the water but close by on Rt 19.

stefan posted 03-24-2007 06:47 AM ET (US)     Profile for stefan  Send Email to stefan
guys,

several of my neighbors docks are naked (have no boats), so I'm sure, as in past, they'll let us use them for the weekend. 4 extra docks, plus mine will be available.Probably we can double up the boats if needed.
Let me know, and I get the ok.
I'm on the cotee river, about 1/2 mile from downtown New Port Richey and the free city boat ramp. There are several hotels nearby on US 19, near Main St.
Quality Inn is best of the bunch. Nice pool, and right around the corner from ramp, so if you wanted to keep boat on trailer at hotel, it's easy to do.

I've got the guest house so it seems. Don't really know how I rate. Probably Sandy more tham me. I guess that means we are going to have to ruin Stefan's reputation in his neighborhood on Saturday night. A party at his house will mean a nearby hotel/motel. Let's get a head count going so we can decide whether a keg is required.
The Judge posted 03-26-2007 11:10 PM ET (US)     Profile for The Judge  Send Email to The Judge
What we need to do is lay out a float plan. Are we starting in Tarpon springs...running down to the sponge docks to look around real quick then head out to Aneclote Island for a party then running north up to Stefan's river to park & party. Or should we drop in in Tarpon, run to island and party then run north to Stefan's. Next day get up and run south to Tarpon and go to docks for lunch, then yank boats? Or something different if Stefan's is too far from Island, etc. like drop in at Stefan's and ? Stefan give us a map of where you are and where Tarpon springs is. I am thinking probably a 10-15 mile trip from island to your house but would be great to know for sure...especially for those with smaller crafts.
stefan posted 03-27-2007 12:07 PM ET (US)     Profile for stefan  Send Email to stefan
It's about 15-20min from my house to open gulf (no wake zone in the river) then another 15-20 min to Anclote sandbar.
the Anclote river, next river south, is about 10 min south of the Cotee, a skip and hop from the island.
Tarpon Sponge Docks are about 15 min up into Anclote (no wake), so all these spots easily reached.
Sorry I never did a GPS track on miles, but I'll look at map tonight. That sounds about right, doesn't it Pat?
If people are dropping at different places, we can all meet at Anclote sandbar? Then people can fish from that point, stay and party, or whatever.
No problem having a bash at my place that night, as long as Frank brings the keg!
Oh, did I mention the best Hooters franchise is on the Cotee river..., Along w/ the Crab Trap(a great hangout w/ live music) and, Catches (lousy, expensive food, but cool bar and deck) we may have to do a "pub crawl" on the way back in....or back out (and the sober skipper this time is....?)

fno posted 03-27-2007 06:26 PM ET (US)     Profile for fno  Send Email to fno
I would like to do Hooters at least one of the days. I've been there a lot by car, never by boat. And I agree, it is one of the best ones ever. Stefan, get the keg beforehand so it's not all sudsed up, I'll pay and Nick will chip in, he can't resist a keg. So I'm in for beer and cigars, what kind of food do we need? Do you have a grill at the house? Gas or charcoal? Should I bring the fryer too? This rendezvous has the potential to be over the top!!!!! I might even bring a "real" sheep for Pat....

Believe it or not, I just bought a brand new gas grill. My 1st; I've been a charcoal loyalist all these years, but had enough. Maybe it's my old age, or I'm just lazy.
Cook out for dinner saturday night?-burgers, dogs, bbq chix? sound like a plan?
Keg it is, tell me what flavor..oh and dumb question, I assume you want a full 1/2 keg, not a whimpy 1/4 keg right?
Janis, liquor store is around the corner, 5 min, so no worries if we run out of rum....

fno posted 03-29-2007 07:15 AM ET (US)     Profile for fno  Send Email to fno
Michelob is my poison. But Nick, might want lite beer, OK too.

I almost forgot, I was told that Reely Mine will be coming and a rumor that it is his birthday(sweet 16?). Not only that, but he has not been officially inducted into the GCBWO group yet.....
The Judge posted 03-29-2007 10:10 AM ET (US)     Profile for The Judge  Send Email to The Judge
Can we sublect a 16yo to THAT?

PS I drink anything so don't cater to moi. Pretty much most USA beer out of a keg tastes the same to me. How about PBR?

So I assume everyone should look for hotels by Tarpon Springs or NPR? I think we should drop in at Tarpon, go to island, then cruise north to Stefans around 5-6ish. Sunday...cruise back to Tarpon, hit the sponge docks for lunch then go home. This will not work if cars can not stay overnight at ramp so....get on it Stefan! Find out where we can all launch by Tarpon and keep cars etc. If not in Tarpon/Holiday then NPR. I will be staying in Holiday with friends so I will probably pull out Sat night and drop it at his house. I am only bringing 13' so I am limited to how far I can run anyway.

trucks/trailers can be kept overnight at city boat ramp in NPR (I've done it all the time,I don't have a lift) I've never seen a sign that says otherwise, and will double check. So maybe launch there?
I have no clue on rules in Tarpon area, will look into it-Nick-"limited in how far I can run"- come on, it's a WHALER-LOL
Nick's itinerary sounds good!
We'll find a sober sole to get you to hotel Len, a taxi, at worst-it's a 10 min ride from my house to hotels on US19,near main street. The Quality I mentioned earlier, just south of main st( their phone # is in thread)there's also a Best Western, just North of Main st.

cook out /hooters, I don't care-ya'all decide

Hey guys, Brian here from classicseacraft.com. I thought I would share a little information from our sight as well as a link.

First, we are having a huge turnout on Saturday. Probably close to 60 participants most camping Satruday night on Anclote Key.

Some of us are going up Friday morning just to poke around all day and staying at the Ramada Inn Bayside. The price is $69.00 per night and it is on the water so you can keep your boat right there for an additional $20 bucks.

Carl Mosley who patented the original SeaCraft hull in the late 60's will also be joining us. (cool) If any of you want to hook up Friday just shoot me an email. We are having a cookout and huge bonfire and all are welcome and encouraged to join in the festivities.

brian.thomas@raymondjames.com

Whaler's and SeaCraft's go together just like pizza and beer!

Here is the link to the Ramada and our link to classicseacraft just below it.

North Sandbar is where all the action is, though it looks like the seacraft gig is on the Key itself?

that Ramada is just south of Main st., on US 19 on the West side. I didn't realize they had dockage; all these yrs I've lived here-go figure....It's in the Gulf Harbors channel, I believe, (I've never been up in there). But you can drop you boat at the Main St boat ramp, and later get vehicle and bring back to hotel if you wish.

Can someone outline exactly where everyone is planning to be at what time on what day? North Anclote Sandbar? the Anclote key itself? Is anyone going to be meeting/launching at Anclote State Park (on the Anclote river bordering Pinellas/Pasco counties)? I'd hate to not be able to find anyone/everyone....

I'll be out there in my 1983 Outrage 18 with the blue bimini, blue bottom paint, and wavy sides. She ain't pretty, but she's paid for. I'm 6'2, with Oakleys and mostly balding. See picture:

Plan on Saturday a.m. to midday or afternoon at Anclote. You will probably see a large red Whaler flag if the pirate shows up. Either that or the Jolly Roger.
stefan posted 04-18-2007 08:29 PM ET (US)     Profile for stefan  Send Email to stefan
good point- look for the flag, the key is where...North Sandbar as a meeting point, that's the hot spot, then over to the Key to meet up w/ seacraft group? or at Key itself' it's a pretty big Key, so do we have a specific waypoint? should be pretty easy to find the whaler flag on the N sandbar.

Frank, I'll find out from my keg man, prices on Mich and Stella (gosh, I love Stella!,) and let you know-you're welcome to come down friday night

I will be at the Anclote ramp Sat AM. Looking at the map the north sandbar is not very visible. Is it just at the northern tip or seperate from the key?

Stefan action is great but if we have 15 boats are we going to be able to park together amidst all the "action"? If not we should set up a meeting spot where we can find each other easily. If there are going to be dozens of SeaCrafts, that might be an easy target to ind, then go do our own thing at the north sandbar at say 2pm when we know eeryone that is coming is there....just a thought. I know Brian's SeaCraft is EASY to spot being it is bright blue. If I don't buy an OJ Bronco soon I will probably be bringing the 13 which I think may be a poor decision. If I bring the 19 I will have large flag/banner as well. My 19 iseasy to spot with a red dive flag as a bimini top. I even have some Whaler flags on a rope(just for Swell). VHF 69?

stefan posted 04-19-2007 12:08 PM ET (US)     Profile for stefan  Send Email to stefan
north sandbar is separate from the Key, and pretty large. Much, much larger than beer can, should be no problem for all of us to meet at- it gets packed mid day, but we should be able to pull it off. I suggest the tip closest to the Key-just keep an eye on depthfinder, depending on the tide, the pass between the Key and sandbar can be shallow, you can also tell just by looking at the area, may have to do a loop around a bit

Can someone please post some real directions? All I know is to get on 44 until it ends and go south on 19.
We'll probably bring the 13' as the 22' is getting her teak re-done and I don't think she'll be ready. Maybe the 17 too..hummm, which boat to bring? Anyway, Kimberly and I are glad it's next weekend, her mom's sick and we were going to have to cancel. Tom will be out of town, so I guess it's just us girls. Welp, we'll bring Henry too..!

hey Janis, if you want to drop at Cotee, New Port Richey boat ramp (closer for you than Anclote), S on 19 into new port richey, look for Main St. make Left on Main St, then at 1st light, River Rd, make a left, and boat ramp is on immidiate right, behind chamber of commerce building. It's a small parking area, if full, park truck/trailer at City owned chruch lot (they bought property for boat parking because of lack of space at city ramp) that lot is on river road, but back on the other side of main st, on the right. just park it, and walk back to ramp.
Anclote Park ramp is further south on 19, make a R on Trouble Creek, follow the winding road, becomes Strouber Memorial Hwy, and keep going, you'll see signs for Park, and then Boat Ramp after that.

stefan posted 04-20-2007 12:43 PM ET (US)     Profile for stefan  Send Email to stefan
just a note:Anclote Ramp is closer to Gulf, hop and skip to the Key. Cotee ramp, you have to take river about 20-30 min out before hitting the Gulf, then S to the Key about 15-20 min.

There is another ramp in public ramp in Port Richey, N of the Cotee ramp, same river, next to Hooters, it's a tricky ramp, and the tides cause havoc because not properly dredged, so I didn't mention it.

My cell 727-534-8321, and Nick suggested VHF 69....

Al,

you can keep your boat at my dock or one of my neighbors, we got 4 docks for the weekend, if you want.

ramp is right around the corner from the Best Western
S on 19 a block or two, turn L on Main St, L on River Rd.
Ramp is on immediate R behind the chamber of commerce.

If parking lot is full, there is another city lot on River rd, but on the other side of Main st- 2nd church you see, White building, is now city property, there will be a sign there as you pull in stating Overflow boat trailer parking, then just walk back to ramp.

It is ok to keep trucks/trailers overnight at parking areas.

So I was out visiting a friend at Indian Rocks Beach, and I noticed that the Bellair Bluffs ramp is all torn up. No ramps open, from the looks of it. I was planning on heading out from here, since they allow parking all night. The Anclote River park is only open dawn to dusk.

Anyone know if the "Seminole Boat Ramp" in Clearwater is ok to park in until late? I'm in St. Pete and I'd rather not drive all the way up to NPR, but I don't want to have to run up the intracoastal from Madeira Beach, either.

Is anyone planning on camping/mooring out there? I'm planning on staying out there till Sat night, but considering camping.

Bring whatever you want, and no problem parking at my place, there's a shortcut from ramp to best western ,by taking river road, and coming in the back way to hotel (actually restaurant next door).Ask at hotel for details

I will probably drop in the REVENGE and keep it at Stefan's as well. What time are we leaving Stefan's on saturday for the island? North sandbar I mean. I have people meeting me on sat morning so I need to know what time they should be there. I will probably be staying at the NPR Marriot or something on Friday night with Brian. 10:30 or 11 sounds like a good departure time. I am going to come down early Saturday morning. I'm up for tomorow night, but Sandy has been painting a lot and wants a good nights sleep, besides she is working tomorow too. Everybody bring some folding chairs for Anclote if you want to sit. Also, sunscreen and bug spray may be needed.

Stefan, What do we need to put the keg in to keep it cold? I have a short but wide galvanized tub that will work if needed, or can we get one of those plastic ones that are taller? Suggestions please....

there are 4 docks for our use. the two in front of mine, and the one behind mine. All are floating docks. The 1st one should be used by a smaller whaler as it has lowest water at low tide-still enough to get out, but low.
friday:high 11am/low 6pm/high 11:13pm
sat high 11:30am/low 6:43pm/high midnightish (pub crawl!-sober skipper is.....)

Frank, all i got is one of those plastic blue tubs, we could flip it, and cover keg?. or just pick keg up sat. when we get back from Anclote.

Looks like you guys had a great time. Lot of Whalers. Would have liked to have bee there but the Outrage has drain tube (tubes) problems. Maybe the next time.

Just to clear something up here. I did in fact tow Al to the sandbar after his motor overheated and died a noble deat after twenty some years of service. Some might wonder why I towed Al to the sandbar and not the ramp after this unfortunate incident. That seemed to be the consensus among the many boaters gathered on the sunny West coast of Florida this weekend. The reality is that an ice cold keg of Stella Artois beer had been entrusted to a 70's vintage Boston Whaler for delivery to our party. There was no way that boat was going back to the ramp !!!!

Sandy and I had a great time. Despite the numerous adversities I think we all had a great day/weekend. Many thanks again to Stefan and Melody who put us and the dogs up for the weekend. We had the pleasure of meeting a bunch of new people and catch up with some old friends too.It was in my opinion, one of the best gatherings of the Gulf Coast Boston Whaler Owners Group to date.

To all,

We had a great time and took a lot of pictures that I will post as soon.

A special thanks to Stefan and Melody for putting us up at a secure dock and hosting a great party.

We will most likely join you all in Stuart.

Stella!!!!- It was Al's idea to call BoatUS, he said he pays for it, might as well use it...so being it was his call, all turned out just fine- we all ended up back at the docks at the same time anyways...
Stella's not finished...fortuately I'm off this week, so I can give her the attention she deserves.

Had a great time. Very long day and long weekend. Had my share f problems with tow vehicle brakes but all is good, especially with the boat. Len margit and I went upriver on sunday until w could not get under a bridg. Very quaint up there and a great little cruise. We yanked the boats about 12:30 and was home about 2:45ish. Ubu was still sleeping....his hide was worn out from all that barking at the beach. Thanks again Stefan and Melody for thekind hospitality. Frank & Sandy...ALWAYS a pleasure as well. To the rest hope to see you soon. To the ones who flaked...YOU LOSE!

PS sorry to hear about engine. Those old cross flows are not really worth rebuilding but it is a pretty clean motor. Look around for a nice used one as well.

Hi All,

My wife Debbie and son Harry and I were the first timers out there in the Outrage 22. We had a terrific time and the rumors are true, Boston Whaler owners are a friendly fun group, with a small drinking problem! Thanks to everyone for a great time and we look forward to the next one.

Of course this will also go in the repairs section, but here's the picture of the carnage:

The cooling passages were caked with salt, apparently causing an overheat. So much for my religious attention to maintenance...apparently the previous owner wasn't so meticulous.
