David -I will be in the Les Cheneaux Islands that entire week with my family. If there is a meeting nearby, I may come on out for a day or even two (overnight on the boat), but it'd have to be Mackinac Island, Cheboygan, DeTour, etc. The Islands have a great fireworks display and much of my family is looking forward to it. In fact, we're going to be severely shorthanded on seats in the boat (not enough capacity) for the fireworks - we'll probably have to watch them from shore. Dave |

I'm a first time caller, long time listener. I would be interested in any get togethers with my whaler brothers and sisters. I'll be in the indian river area before and during the 4th of July. The inland waterway trip. Post any info here and I'll try to meet up! |

I am a long time reader.MY wife and I would be interested in a 4TH of July gathering.I will be in the Les Cheneaux islands at that time (my 62nd summer of vacationing there, this summer is different inthat we are now retired and will spend the whole summer on Marquette Is.)Our winter home is in tropical Cheboygan,Mi. 1/2 mile from Mullet lake or 1 hour drive by car from Cedarville. |

Portajohn -Which side of Marquette Island are you on? We'll be up on Hill Island that week with a full house. It's been a 15 year absence for our family gathering up there, but prior to that, we (the family) had a 42 year presence on Hill Island. What kind of Whaler should I be looking for, and does it have a name? Dave |

Buckda We are on middle entrance. Our dockage is in Peck Bay and the white entrance bouy for the bay is directly in front of our cottage.I did notice "GAMBLER" enter the bay last summer at one point in time. The bay and dockage is a bit tricky with the low water. Normally you would find two 13 ft whalers and a grey hull 4Winns at our dock. That means I am on the island. If one or more are missing I may not be home.Several cottages are owned by relatives who are all of the friendly type. Great place and has been in the family about 80 years. John |

John -I know it exactly now! Did I meet you a few years back at the Cedarville Public dock (Built your own place using a 13?!)? I love that area. It's too bad that Peck Bay isn't a little deeper to allow some more use. Back when the water was at record highs in the 1980's, my dad and I caught a HUGE pike back there. Nice to know you'll be around then. I may cruise on over for a gam. Dave |

Buckda: We may have met at the public dock when I was building a small place of my own to use when the family cottage was being used by siblings.Got the best advice from old town gent about building on an island....."build on the mainland". I still have that same 13 with same power. Visiters are always welcome at our cottage and I would love a close up of your fine boat. John |

So if we bring up our 13 can we cruise/party/fish/beach camp with the big boys? or maybe I install the Mills Dodger, pull out the thwart seat and sleep in the 13 - imagine that Buckda! OR maybe I'll build a platform forward of the seat to bow deck and cushion. We can live on Manley's Smoked Fish - are they still in St Ignace? We're game - you gotta have some Jumbo Perch around there someplace for Ellen who is obsessed. |
