I have talked to some of you already for ideas for a Potomac River Rendezvous based at Yiddil's Place Right off the Potomac Riiver, about 11 miles from the Chesapeake Bay.

Launch area is like 1/4 mile from my house(private) and trailer space is available at the house...I have a 75 foot dock with room for probably at least 6 boats at dock side and the rest in around 5 ft of water.

I know some of you are far away, but others are closer. The Potomac River down that way is like 4-7 miles wide with lots of bays and creeks and places to go and explore...lots of sharks teeth, and fossils in lots of places and great food places on the Potomac...

I'm looking for ideas and dates at this point. There is no money envolved except the personal cost to you. Could be a day or days type trip...depending on what everyone wants to do or has the time for.........

let me know your thoughts.........

MY Best, Henry AKA THE YIDDIL

PS, plan to do the "once around NYC' Trip this year...anyone else intersted, let me know...

Henry, I beleive I E-mailed you my my current commitments for this summer (planning only). Please keep me on your short list of attendees. Scott and 'Big Dick' have already made the NYC trek. He should have the logistics figured out. I would be interested in the 2007 NYC trek also.

Lets get thru all the swim events in June first. Scott told me that Joe was not doing the Patapsco swim this year. The Potomac Swim for the Environment, Great Chesapeake Bay Swim, and Chester River Swim for Life remain. not to mention the Kent Narrows Rendesvous (Demo Day). June is bustin' out all over.

Second good idea. Pick a weekend with a full moon. It makes navigating the Potomac in the evening a whole lot easier.

MAc, good Ideas....

Yes, june is going to be hecktic...Me thiks I need Scott or you or someone to email directions for checking my wheels on the trailer....Ive never lubed them, checked them or anything....and I think now is a good time if Im doing all those events in June...

Navigating the potomac at nite??? where ??? when?????

I used to zoom all the way up to Cobb Island untill we ran aground or hit some fish nets at 50MPH...since then I try and stay off the river at nite:)unless I have someone out front with some real brite lights:)

Email me back channel about the trailer wheels and lubrication, checking, hubs, etc...I need a crash course..

Or you and Scott come down and we can play:))

Henry, I'd love a get-together at your great place. The way my weekends are shaking out this year, May and June are unfortunately out of the question. I'll be lucky to get the boat in the water before the Potomac swim!

Marlin, we can make it for Later...like july if it will help you plan out the time better for your needs...we are already discussing the Potomac Swim for the Environment aand making the run down to the Chesapeake Bay by WHaler rather than trailering to the Cheapeake Bay and then launching....If we can set up the loggistics at St MArys and Siebels, then it will be a double rend!!!!

Im raring to go...waiting on others to chine in, get rigged or what ever....only a few more weeks for this thing to get etched into our plans...HEnry

Well, after lousy early spring weather in the mid-Atlantic, finishing a deck rebuild in time for my daughter's graduation party in a couple weeks, and a basement flood from the washing machine, I finally got the cover pulled off the boat today.

I was hoping to dump her in the water for a quick shakedown before taking her home for a thorough cleanup, but when I emptied the back of the Explorer I realized that I'd left all the props in the garage. Duh... But it was just as well, as the steering rod in the tilt tube had frozen up, and required a partial disassembly and the application of a bit of force back home in the driveway anyway. Other than that, everything seems to be in fine shape, and after a half-inch of pollen was washed off, she looks pretty good. Hopefully we'll get a quick shakedown in tomorrow; after that I'm off to the other coast for a week again. That's getting old.

At least it looks like everything will be in good shape for the Potomac River Swim! Oh yeah, and I'll be burning last fall's $2.39 gas for a while, too. Such a bargain!

How far are you from Westmoreland State Park? I was wanting to take the boat down there for a day this summer anyway. I heard about the shark's teeeth and such and figured that the family would enjoy it.
Please keep me in mind.

Thanks,
Matthew

Marlin, Scott tells me your in for the potomac swim:) ...Now for some good weather and we can whaler down rather than do the trailering crap I hate...

MAc, let me know via email on your availability for the Potomac Swim w/ a whaler run from my place(11 miles from the bay) starting thursday evening...friday for the trip down to Siebels, and we can return sunday mid morning...if we can work out logistics of over nite birth, logistics to and from launch site and dinner at St Marys...

Talked to Scott this week and he's game if we can work it all out...Kamie said she will se as she is trying to complete her re-power in time and or get her trailer dialed in...

still waiting on others to respond....

HAve Coast GUard VEs for all attending:)

oops forgot...Westmorland state park is about 30 minutes from my place, but I have not been there by land, only by Potomac River....Great that way...not sure about launch services etc at park, but I hear its nice...

I'd launch at a public launch and motor on down and beach her right on the potomac for the sharks teeth hunt.:)

Henry, looks like there's a dock right at Scheibel's (courtesy of Google Earth). It's a little exposed to the south, though, and you might regret it if the weather goes to heck like it did last year.

So where exactly are you located? Are you in Va or Md. I was just thinking I am unfamiliar with that area. I was thinkg that if there is a get together, I could hit that and the park. I have only beenin the fairview beach are of the Potomac.
I would be trailering from Central Va.

Thanks

BADAZGN....The Potomac Swim for the environment is the event On June 2nd....To register with the event person coordinating...email Scott @ sleidig@verizon.net....he is thcoordinating the evnet for the Boston Whaler Safety group for the event...

What we have been discussing is leaving from my place and running down to the Chesapeake Bay by WHaler from Montross Va.(my Place) rather than trailer down to Point Lookout ....I have the water access...and were 11 miles away...but a lot depends on weather and logistics we are trying to work out with scott...for transportation to Motel, Dinner on friday late afternoon...then the return on sunday morning...bething for the 2 nites is still up...siebels has a dock..need permission, or the launch site might work for the swim...

Swi is from Hull Creek to Point Lookout...FYI

Westmorland state Park is doable, but 45 minutes by car north of my location...Not sure you have launching capabilities in Hull Creek...youl need to check that....

But we start form Maryland side with transport of swimmers and kyakers to hull creek, then they swim and paddle to Point Lookout..but we have to be there friday afternon...

hope that helps..

Marlin, yep they have a dock, and a sandy beach too...but have to check with Scott about possibilities for a two day tie up, or with DNR at Sandy Point launch site....
