The NorCal Rendezvous headed from Petaluma to Angel Island
this morning. About a third of the way there, I made a wrong
turn, got out of the channel, and ended up stuck in the mud
about 100 yards from where Tony and Royce got stuck a while
back. This was about 9 a.m. on an outgoing tide, with low
tide at 10:24. We tried a bunch of things to try to get
a line to one of the other boats to pull me off. I tried
drifting may anchor line tied to a string of fenders, but the
drag of the line on the bottom made it go only as far as I
could through. Somebody (Warren?) tried casting a line to
me but it wouldn't make it. Finally Jock stripped to his
skivvies and swam/crawled to where my anchor line was ended up,
and we fished the line over and pulled. The tide had gone
out about another 6" and it wouldn't budge.

Everybody else took off for Angel Island, and Linda and I
settled down and waited for the tide to turn. We had warm
clothes, a picnic lunch, a big bag of Linda's cookies, and
water and beer.

Low tide turned out to be at about 11:00, and we were 75 feet
at least from any water. At about 12:55, the water got back
to use, and we finally got loose about 1:25.

A good time was had by all, thanks to all the other whalers
for lending a hand, and especially to Jock for getting in that
slime.
