Sshhhh it's a surprise, I don't know about it. Actually my B-Day is 8/9 which is thursday but weather permitting I am going to be out at beercan on Saturday the 11th. Anyone want to show up and drink some beverages and help me wax the boat? Ahhh screw the wax, let's drink beer!

I will wax your boat when you stop filling mine up with empty beer cans. Looks like I can come if I can find a slave to do things for me. I'm going under the knife tomorow for shouulder surgery. Torn rotator cuff and a bone spur to fix. That means 2-3 months of PT so no travelling for me. |

It is Margit's birthday on the 10th and I'm sure we will be having some sort of party. Frank, I can rig up a beer bong for you since you wont be able to lift them yourself. We'll just sit you down somewhere and pour a beer in every so often. If you can't do a boat ride we could all get together at my place for the b-day people. Len |

I figure beer is one of the reasons for my shoulder problems. In thirty years of professional drinking I estimate that I have hoisted 58,500 beers so far. That is a conservative estimate not accounting for parties, binges, the hard stuff, etc. Not including the weight of the cans, bottles that amounts to 702,000 ounces or 43,875 lbs. of beer lifted by my right arm so far. My biggest fear is not being able to open my beers as this requires two hands most of the time. I am trying to train shep to help out. My next attempt will be to duct tape a bottle opener to his snout. |

Am I going to have to refer to you as my "sargeant of arm"?No need to bring your rig Frank, we have plenty of boats. Maybe it is time to start drinking cans instead of bottles, Shep is getting old ya know. I also have a beer bong with a shut off valve for easy use with 1 arm. You might also want to stop shooting that hand cannon as well. So when you mean no travelling I assume for work...correct? I guess we are not going scalloping either. Hurry up with that PT so we can get a rendezvous going for October. Keep me posted and good luck tomorrow. |

fno - sorry to hear about the shoulder. I feel your pain, literally. I have my MRI tomorrow morning and find out when and to what extent my surgery will be next Tuesday. Based on the exam and my history (10 years and two PT's so far on this shoulder) they are fairly sure I tore it clean through this time. Not fun, especially since it is the right arm.As for the 11th, if they don't want to cut me before then and I can convince the wife, I might try to make it. I need her as this shoulder makes some tasks required to launch and retrieve a boat a little more challanging. This isn't fun at all, makes me wish I bought the tiptronic as the 911 is now a doorstop in the garage. |

Frank, hope the shoulder feels better. I have to go in a few weeks maybe for an MRI. Still hurting from when I fell off my own boat, got good and bad days. Doc thought it was just sprained but maybe rotator cuff too. Maybe we'll make it out there but have to check schedule and possible for the St. John's too. Have some fishing tournaments coming up and have to check when they are.Chris |

I'll volunteer to drive anyone's Porsche 911 that is being used for a door stop in the garage. I have extensive experience with German automobiles, I've never owned anything but german cars... FWIW, I don't drink so you don't have to worry about me wrapping it around something driving under the influence. Happy birthday Nick. |

Any real Porsche should have the engine in the rear as Mr. Porsche's original designs always had. ;) I won't go down the air vs. water cooled road, water cooling was a great addition. Besides, I was bumping your thread back to the top of the list so it was easy to see. Wouldn't want anyone to miss it. Remember Nick: I like you so much I'd let you drink all the beer I brought if I showed up... :) |

All the P-cars are great, each with their redeeming qualities. I will always favor the 356 but the drivability of my 99C2 is perfect.Back to Nick's beercan birthday adventure. I have the wife convinced (the boy will be in CT with Grandama) so as long as they aren't cutting me by then, I'm in. Do you have a rough time you will be there? |

I know where Len lives by both land and sea...probably by hot air ballon as well. I was thinking we hit BC at noon. hang till like 4-5 and then hit Len's which is 10 minutes away by boat. I can always leave the boat at Len's if we get wasted but that is not like us....especially on my B-Day;) |

Ok wife is thinking we should go home and shower etc before attending Len's by car...what time are you getting it going Len? Are we using the pool? Are you & Margit coming out to BC with us? Laurie's friend Pat is probably coming and I do not know if she needs to head home afer boating or staying for the duration of madness and decadence. Frank why is Sandy coming by car, is she not coming out on Ubu's Revenge? I have a 21+lb Turkey that NEEDS to be cooked(thawing as we speak) so my friend Steve wants to cook half in a deep fryer and I was going to do the other half more traditional or N. Carolina BBQ style...too much? Can my friend Steve and his wife Beth come(SeaRay 27 guy)? Dave(6'6" bald dude you met) might also be taging along but I doubt it. He might just do BC if he decides to leave his block. |

As usual I don't care who uses the pool/showers or much else for that matter at my place as long as you don't expect service or get ugly when you drink. There are cushioned sleeping surfaces for six, after that it's the floor or lounge chairs on the pool deck. If Pat want's to drive to our place she can ride to Beercan with us and leave her car and go home when she likes. Tall guys are welcomed???? Duh Turkey is good. Len |

Happy Birthday Nick!Frank, how is the shoulder doing? You seem to be typing OK. I get cut on the 30th, luckily it is not torn all the way through. We are going to try to get down to beercan. We'll see what happens, haven't launched down there before so not sure if there is a good option. We go by water from Ruskin, unless the wife chickens out. |

The problem is the wife's paranoia of thunderstorms. We do trips of that length and longer all the time in the late fall and early spring but when thunderstorm season is on us our trips are shorter. I could argue but don't in the name of domestic tranquility. We tend to spend more time on the Alafia and at Tampa Bay's Beercan Island off of Apollo Beach.Dave, if your going let me know and I'll put in at Williams Park on the Alafia and we can make the trip together. |

Great time. Thanks to all we met. It's nice to finally put some faces to the names on the board. Sorry we missed you Len. Just as we pulled in the driveway the thunder and lightning were upon us. We probably could have stayed another 20 minutes and still avoided being on the boat for that but it would have been close. The ride back was a bit bumpy, the wife is ready for a bigger boat. |

Had a great time with Erik & wife, FNO & Sandy, and others. Len's house was a gratefull expression of their love for me and my B-Day...oh and it was also Margit's B-day as well. Fang, Marc and battery-less women were wonderfull as well. The VNAT was awefull however. Those of you confused...VNAT stands for Vinegar-Nasty-Ass-Turkey that yours truly cooked for hours(22lbs) and it wound up in the canal. Luckily Len cooked up some beer basted meat and mushroom casserole that really pushed our hot spots. All was good and the rain made it comfortable in all that heat...can't wait to do it again. See you at ST John's in 2 weeks! |
