Yo-ho-ho ya bunch of bilge rats. Puget Sounders are welcome.

Any interest?

Cruise? Explore? Fish tournament?
When?

The best salmon fishing in the Ocean is between Aug 10-20. I have a good sized "fish camp" in Seaview (Long Beach Peninsula) that can handle 3 or 4 RVs & boats.
Ft Canby state park is nice and there are plenty of private RV parks and motels around. Im tellin ya, if you are the least bit serious, now is the time to make reservations. I dont think the transient moorage ever did fill up at the Marina this year so I think you could get by leaving the boat in the water.

3rd week in July is a good one to cruise since Salmon arent running hard, sturgeon is closed, recovered from the 4th (on a Friday next year) and the weather is usually decent. I plan to camp on Cottonwood Island with Family and Friends that weekend, CW would be welcome...lots of room but it is basically just a sandy beach on a Island.

More info on your place? I like the idea of something down south to try to get some of the Oregon people involved. It means trailering for most everybody, but I think that's usually what happens anyway. Ft. Canby is one of my favorite parks. I'm not sure I'd want to take my 13' out over the bar for any real fishing, but the protected waters inside would be fun to explore.

Cottonwood island or something similar farther up the river would be fun too. I like the idea of something close to the I-5 coridor for ease of access as well. I'm not sure camping on an island with no running water or bathrooms will go over real well with the families, but a day trip would be popular, I'd think. More info?

Bottom line, if you have serious interest to fish Salmon at the mouth of the Columbia, weekend of Aug 15th is the best time to plan (decent tides, weather, fish outlook).

I have limited RV space but plenty as a "hub" to get together and swap stories, clean, bake fish, oysters, cook crab, tunes etc. Ilwaco Marina 1.5 miles S. Ocean Beach is about .5 mile stroll. We take pride in having the biggest bonfire on the 2nd longest continuous sandy ocean beach in the US (22 miles).

The nice thing about this time of Aug, if you dont like the idea of going over the bar or the weather kicks up, there are plenty of fish in the river. Upriver Brights (beautiful chinook) are laying in the deep shoals and still open to catch but I dont guarantee Chinnok will still be open. DFW shut down around the 22nd last year and Buoy 10 hasnt been what it used to be (limit out in 2 hrs). But who knows? Things change. I actually prefer fishing the river to the ocean (less fuel, less chop) but I never really got dialed in for the river this year because the Ocean fishing was great.

The crab usually arent full or rock hard but there are plenty (12 ea) and a lot of fun for almost any boat. WFWS rules for Col Riv crab are the same as Oregon.

Anyway, Im gonna be in n out of there as soon as the Ocean opens (mid July) til Labor day.
Razor clams open again Thanksgiving weekend.

Won't bring the boat and don't want to sleep on the ground but I'll try to be there.

Towboater,
If I am not chasing TUNA! out of Newport at that time I would be interested in a get together. I live in Vancouver Washington so a trip over to Long Beach is pretty easy for me.

I'd love to come "home" to Portland area this summer and are working out dates. It would be cool to be there if you guys pull something together. It's been way too long since I've been back. Keep me posted.

I'm more intersted now that I've got the 18'. Maybe catch some Columbia River Salmon. However, I will be camping on Lake Chelan the weekend of the 9th and 10th, so it would have to work around that.
