posted 06-10-2008 10:54 AM ET (US) Seems like there are a lot of members from the North Shore/Cape Ann here in MA. On Sunday, I was finally able to make the maiden voyage in my new (to me) 1999 18 Ventura. I saw more Whalers than I could count. Of course, everyone with a boat was on the water this weekend. It was like the 4th of July out there! (At least it was in the Beverly/Salem/Marblehead area.) Anyway, I believe that I might be the only one with an 18 Ventura in these parts, so if you see me out on the water, feel free to say “hello.”

John- I keep my 1988 17' Newport center console at Gloucester Marina which is by the rail road bridge on the Annisquam River. Where do you keep your Whaler or where to out in?
We go up to Wingaersheek beach often and down to Salem. Is the Rockmore in Salem Harbor open?

I normally launch from one of the ramps in Beverly. Occasionally Salem or Danvers. I also have access to a mooring on the Danvers River.
No. The Rockmore isn’t open yet. They’re claming that they’ll be open later this week, but who knows? I think they barely made it for the 4th of July last year.
I’m not sure if you know where Stromberg’s is located (almost under the Salem side Beverly/Salem Bridge) but they have a new outside seating area with dock access. Not the most scenic place to have a cocktail, but it’s another water-accessible restaurant in the area.
Can you still tie up at the Cape Ann Marina and get lunch? Someone told me they were closed for a while.

Forgot to ask: Is there a place to anchor off Wingaersheek? Do you have access to the beach from the water?
Been there by car a few times, but I've never made the trip with the boat.

Is Wingaersheek located on the west side as you come into the Annisquam?

You can beach your boat and anchor at Wingaersheek beach. I do know Strombergs. My buddy lives down the street from it and hangs out there. I am not sure if Cape Ann Marina allows you to dock and lunch. With the economy I would think they would.
