I've done it several times by ferry but I am thinking about doing an overnighter at the beginning of the season next year. Has anyone ever done this trip on a private boat? How was it? Thanks.

done it many times im out of scituate. dont do it in a 13 too dangerous even if you get perfect wheather goin over you might not coming back. id say a montauk at least. cape cod bay can be a very dangerous place especially in a 13 foot boat even if it is a whaler.

I've done it, from the North river to P-Town and back, and consider it one of the many things done in my youth that should have killed me.

I have gone from Sesuit(Dennis)to P-town in a Montauk, no problem. We quickly upgraded from 13 classic when that 2pm wind shift/tide shift occurred. The shoal water and upkick in wind can make for a very wet ride in a 13 on Cape Cod Bay!
