Looking for a place to spend one night during that week between X-Mas and New Year's. I stay in the Ft. Laud. area for the holidays and like to go down to Key West but it's a long round trip for a day. I know from experience how hard it is to find something or how expensive it can be. I'll have my 23 y.o. daughter and 16 y.o son with me. We're not afraid to rough it, but don't have room to bring camping gear on the trip with us. Any ideas or offers will be appreciated. I can trade a night in the Poconos if you're ever up this way, or I'd be willing to take any host out for a nice dinner. Thanks. Steve

First two are on little Torch Key just south or west of Big Pine Key. The last as in the name is on Sugarloaf Key which is 15 or so miles from Key West. All are true Lower Keys. Good Luck! If you need any info I'm your guy. Big Pine has some small cheap places not on the water. But I don't know if I would recomend them. They would be stay at your own risk ;)

I checked the rates. What's the name of 'the stay at your own risk' places? We just need a place to sleep.

Right smack in the middle, is a place on long Key Called the Edgewater Lodge, google for their web site. It is about 15 miles from Islamorada and 15 from Marathon. I have stayed here for 30 years or more, not recently however. Not a bed bug place for sure, and have hotel rooms(2)last choice for most people staying there and efficiences for about $120. If Melinda is there say hi for me.
