Gang-

I'm getting that itch....been to long since Homosassa.
Mel and Abby will be up North mid Jan, which means...LOL
How 'bout we set up a gig Jan 17/18? Pending the weather of course.

Sugggestions? We can do Anclote again, dock up here. Or somewhere we've haven't done...what ever happened to doing a gig in Janis' back yard?

Stefan,
I was looking forward to another late Feb. Homosassa gathering like last year. Trying to talk some of the Georgia whalers into making the trip with me this year.

Joe, Lois and I may be able to join you in Febuary. We'll still be down here (Fla.) but from what you said about last year it sounds like a don't miss kinda thing to me. Keep me posted.

We could do a 2/28-3/1 Homo rendezvous again. I will start that thread soon.

We can also try a small Hooters run since it is only a couple weeks away and too late to plan. 13 has a fresh engine on her so I'm game for a nice winter river cruise. Not going to venture out to anclote with it but I doubt weather will be that warm anyway.

Who is in?

Good thinking Nick- river bar-hop is a great plan!-

I'll make sure I'm available for swiming with the fishes (sea cows) end of Feb- I can go by boat, and Mel and Abby can drive up.

Just try and get there before dark this time.

The water and air temp was very cold for fishing and swimming, but the group event was fun. Maybe a little later in the year would be better.
Tohsgib posted 12-30-2008 12:03 PM ET (US)     Profile for Tohsgib  Send Email to Tohsgib
Water is 72 degrees all year.
lakeman posted 12-31-2008 09:01 AM ET (US)     Profile for lakeman  Send Email to lakeman
I know that, I live here, but 72 can be cold to a Florida guy, especially if the wind is blowing 5 MPH. Only Yankees from above the Mason Dixon line or local die hard swimmers think 72 is great for swimming and even the fish do not like the Gulf water at 60 degrees, notice I never said river water :)

Hey gang,
I will mark my calendar for 2/28 - 3/1. Hopefully I will not be traveling. I will try to get some of the others from Lanier to make the trip. It would be great to get Kevin with his '69 Menemshia to the gathering. Jerry & Lois may make the ride up from their South Florida retreat.

I had a great time last year when I was coherent. Hope to see you again. No one can ever accuse you guys in Florida of not knowing how to party.
Take care
Joe

I'm not near GA? You better get a map Stephan:) I'm just west of Daytona Beach.
I'm ready to do something other than sit around and drink all day, like a mini fishing tournament or treasure hunt or something...any ideas?
an86carrera posted 01-06-2009 09:32 PM ET (US)     Profile for an86carrera  Send Email to an86carrera
I am hoping to be available. But we are having company from Europe that week and don't know exact timing of their visit. I think they are leaving Sat AM.

I will go to either place but want to stay in waterfront hotel. My preference is St. John's River. The no wake zones at Homasassa are horrendous.

stefan posted 01-07-2009 10:00 AM ET (US)     Profile for stefan  Send Email to stefan
yup, and who wants to watch Frank get beached again?!

Sit around and drink all day? Geez Janis, none of us do that, you must be thinking of another group, we stand around and drink all day:-)

But right on about at least trying to get some fishing in... Cotee canal will have convicts, reds, snook this time of yr.

an86carrera posted 01-07-2009 11:03 AM ET (US)     Profile for an86carrera  Send Email to an86carrera
You can't drink all day unless you start in the morning. So you all have to get there early.
Tohsgib posted 01-07-2009 11:35 AM ET (US)     Profile for Tohsgib  Send Email to Tohsgib
Too many things in one thread. Are we still talking about Stefan's house in 1.5 weeks or Homomyassa in March? The march Homo trip has kinda been made into an annual gig(4th annual) and I think we should continue it. We can also maybe do a run over to Crystal river. Janis' gig would be the 3rd one but hers have always been in September so what's it going to be? What about Stefan's?
fno posted 01-07-2009 08:10 PM ET (US)     Profile for fno  Send Email to fno
Let's keep the focus on Stefan's first idea. The weekend of the 17th-18th at his house or on the river at Hooters. Homosassa is set for March, leave it that way.

I am OK with the Cotee trip.

So Frank the crabass...do I assume you will be there?

Put me down as a show and is this an overnight ordeal?

stefan posted 01-08-2009 01:11 PM ET (US)     Profile for stefan  Send Email to stefan
overnite it is, all can crash at my place-

house is sold-closing on 30th- so let's just make sure we don't burn it down like Frank tried to w/ the Fryer last time.....

The "Crabass" will most likely be there. He is freezing his cojones off in Toronto this week and will need to thaw them out at Hooters.
stefan posted 01-10-2009 10:03 PM ET (US)     Profile for stefan  Send Email to stefan
what flavor should be dispensed from the keg?
fno posted 01-11-2009 11:44 AM ET (US)     Profile for fno  Send Email to fno
I count 6 so far. Maybe not enough for a keg. But then again, stefan likes leftover beer......
Tohsgib posted 01-12-2009 12:33 PM ET (US)     Profile for Tohsgib  Send Email to Tohsgib
Unless a lighter domestic beer that many call swill, count me out for the keg. I can't drink Stella or equiv all day and the wifey won't even taste it. I know...I love a great beer but when it comes to power drinking with the Whaler crew, I need bud light or some other watered down crap. If you do get a keg, I say stick with a 1/4.

Pookie and I will be there with bells on and the 13 in tow. Just put on a new engine, axle, springs, hubs, bearings, etc...she's ready for some action. I have to pick up a tail light though. My new LED decided to drown itself somehow.

lakeman posted 01-12-2009 02:55 PM ET (US)     Profile for lakeman  Send Email to lakeman
We will try to be there again this year, if money is still available, just booked two trips, spring and fall, wow trying to keep the economy going single handed.
Do not drink much any more and wife prefers wine and being on this low carb diet ULTRA is my main adult drink now days, ugh.
At least it looks like a beer bottle and if you put a lime slice in it and hide the label, you can dream
stefan posted 01-12-2009 09:21 PM ET (US)     Profile for stefan  Send Email to stefan
agreed, whoever invented bottled beer was a genuis....

Tohsgib posted 01-13-2009 11:22 AM ET (US)     Profile for Tohsgib  Send Email to Tohsgib
So we have Stefan, Frank & Sandy, Len & Margit, and Nick & Laurie. We might have a couple stragglers show up for the boat ride but they live kinda close by and we will make them go home(Laurie's friends who always show up).

Who else is in for Saturday on the Cotee river?

Tohsgib posted 01-13-2009 11:27 AM ET (US)     Profile for Tohsgib  Send Email to Tohsgib
PS...as far as activities go Janis, how about a mini poker run? Slow speed no wake as a matter of fact so we all get to the bar the same time. Depends on who can tie up the fastest I guess. Actually it depends on the best hand, using the boat just gives us an excuse to use the boat and drink.

Sunny skies forcast for the weekend, with high of 60, low of 40...whoever gets dibs on the cottage better bring a portable heater....

Plenty of room in main house, just bring an air bed, I have just one.

fno posted 01-14-2009 12:00 AM ET (US)     Profile for fno  Send Email to fno
Calling dibs on the cottage for the hounds. So Janis, are you really going to show????? I hope so....
Tohsgib posted 01-14-2009 12:33 PM ET (US)     Profile for Tohsgib  Send Email to Tohsgib
Janis bailed!

I am masturbating the idea of even bringing the boat in 60 degree weather but what the hell. I think I will just pull it after we are done and cruise back to the hacienda in tow. We can stuff the 13' somewhere or use it as a cooler.

Frank should I bring shitdog with us?

Brian7son posted 01-14-2009 01:49 PM ET (US)     Profile for Brian7son  Send Email to Brian7son
Nick,

Never admit to that. You meant to say that you were cleaning it in the shower and it went off.

stefan posted 01-14-2009 03:44 PM ET (US)     Profile for stefan  Send Email to stefan
LOL.....I'm thinking of not even dropping the boat.... but being the host, guess I should at least have a whaler in the water.....but do I have to?......
an86carrera posted 01-14-2009 05:25 PM ET (US)     Profile for an86carrera  Send Email to an86carrera
Are we sure we want to go boating at all. I was thinking of just taking the P-car and leaving the boat home too.

OK....I am gonna say this.....I will bring the 13' if anyone cares....if not I am coming in style without the boat. Heck Hooters does not care if I come by land. Heck nobody even cares if I come! I think a Benzo run will be sweet! Wanna race Len?

Well I beat Len AND Frank to Stefan's by a HUGE margin because NEITHER ONE SHOWED UP!

Had some great wings at Hooter's...bird crap special sauce with a side on my arm. Had a great time though, was good seeing you again Stefan.
