Only a few days away and we are all hopefully prepared for a great weekend getaway. As you all know we are meeting at MacRae's @ 10am on saturday and will head out about 11ish by the time everyone is unloaded and ready. Janis was lucky enough to get some goodies fom Whaler for our "ceremonies" after the poker run, etc so I am doing a roll call. I also need to know how many poker run kits to make/bring. We don't want anyone slighted so please chime in on when you are showing(days), what boat you have, and who is your crew. If you are bringing a dish for Sat night and know what it is, please note that as well.

I will start with Nick Manukas, 1981 13 sport(no name), my wife Laurie, My parents Nick & Judy. We will be there Saturday through Sunday with a dish of lasagna(sp?).

PS...I believe there are microwaves in each room or available somewhere to heat stuff up. Also some members are staying in efficiencies and may allow us to use theirs or ovens.

Big Al is chiming in. I will have my 21ft Outrage (Al-A-Buy) and will be single handed as my crew has other committments for the weekend. If anyone wants to ride along, you are invited. (I do allow smoking and drinking aboard as long as you share :-)). I will be arriving Friday afternoon and departing on Sunday. I will also have my Magna grill onboard so if we want to grill goodies during the Saturday run, please bring your choice noshing tidbits... As usual, I'll probably have some hotdogs and buns.

As far as the Sat dinner goes - I have no predetermined plan. If something is needed to fill in a menu hole, please let me know. I have checked with the local (Melbourne) fish mongers and due to short supplies, they are not selling bushels of blue crab, so that is out for me...

See you on Friday...

AL W.

FNO (seargeant at arms) Frank and Sandy will be there Saturday morning for the sea pigs and poker run. The grill will be on board with brats. Dinner will most likely be some form of seafood(shrimp) I will bring the burner, Old Bay, and the pot for steaming. Sorry, no frying this year. Got in a bit of trouble getting rid of the old oil. Has anybody determined the grill situation. If all they have are U.S. Forest Service Park Grills then we need to have a backup plan. Can't cook anything but a roast on one of those contraptions. I will also try to bring some cigars and liquor in case there are some classy folks(like me) coming this year.

I hate to even bring this up but I know Nick is a "I Told You So" type of person. I did not reserve a room becuase I really did not think we could make the gathering this year. Well, when the wife found out it was going to be 80 degrees in Florida and 50's in Georgia she had a change of heart and said lets go. I called McCraes but they are booked on Saturday.

If anyone has a room reserved and plans on cancelling, let me know. Otherwise, I will call tomorrow to see if there have been any cancellations. If not, I will be thinking of you guys and will be there in spirit.
Take Care
Joe

No rooms or efficiencies for Saturday, just friday.

Yes they have charcoal grills. Not sure what kind, that is all she knew.

GOOD NEWS Gang! I hate to not stay with you all but I was able to get a room at the Blue Moon Bed and Breakfast about a mile up the road. The rooms were only about $20 more than the River Resort across the street from McCraes and they also would charge $20 per night for the boat. The Blue Moon is giving me a free slip. A little fancier than I had planned but we will consider this one of those nice private get-aways from the kids. We will be arriving Friday afternoon and leaving Sunday.

So Nick, you can tell me I told you so in person. Frank, I can pickup my flag in person. See you all this weekend.
Take Care
Joe

Actually Joe I was going to post and see if anyone would share a room with you on Saturday since Friday is still available. We have had people stay at other hotels nearby in the past due to Mac's small size and us not being able to hold the rooms like we were allowed this year. Mnay stayed next door but I think it burned down a while ago or something...or was that a restaurant? Either way the river is easy to navigate at night so it won't be a problem going back to the moon, especially if this full moon kinda sticks around a few more days.

PS...we now have 15 Whalers coming(if Pat brings his) and 2 non Whalers(if SeaBob shows) and roughly 37 people attending. I think this might be a record beating BoatOberfest 2002 where we had about 20 Whalers but not all were CW members, some just showed up to see what was going on(like Boat US Towing in his 25 Frontier). I would have to look through Cetacea and see if Jim posted the amount we had.

Good job kids! Pat yourselves on the back...that is if you show up ;)

Nah I just looked the pics and no way did we have close to 20 boats, more like a dozen or so. This is by far the largest...congrats to all.

Pat...no pets allowed! Then again I do like Mutton on an open fire with garlic, basil and olive oil and maybe a rub of Montreal or Cavender's Greek seasoning.

We will be there Saturday all day. We will bring some goodies.

There are four of us, two children, and my first mate or capm' depending on my mood. We are bringing a 2007 13' sport.

The ultimate decider says she wants to see what else is being brought, so she may chime in, if the kids give her a break..

So the number is (4). Poker run? Yep.

We were just at Homosassa River yesterday and it was busy so be prepared. ALSO SUNBLOCK IS A MUST! Do not venture out for the littlest timeframe without the best forms of sunblock available. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! I got cooked at only 1.5 hour exposure.

Joe, glad to hear that the better half is feeling better and is willing to spend a weekend with us. As far as your flag is concerned there is a small matter of storage fees. This can be handled with rum as usual....

Frank,
The payment can be arranged. The wife is a pretty mellow person when it comes to the party scene so driving Janice to the store for supplies may need to fall on someone else. Looking forward to seeing you all again. Wish I could stay a few more days but work is nuts this month. See you all in a few days

Glad to hear you'll be there Joe!-
Bought a trailer last weekend that's actually road worthy- -after gettin scolded for showing up so late last yr, via gulf-probably will trailer it up this time, now that I live in a darn subdvision....Pat's helping me set it up- see you at the pen.

bringing the coleman propane grill if we need it, extra tap (never know...) junk food-stogies-probably a buddy of mine- At 18mo, Abby's not ready to steer for me, and Mel, with another bun in the oven, is already sea sick on pavement.

Ok...2 days left. Still have not heard from Len, Janis, Swell(except for sheep jokes), Dave Neal, Mad Max, Eric Hannick, and SeaBob. Now I know Len and Janis are definately coming and almost positive about Dave Neal.

I am caravaning up with Len and my wife's friend Pat and we should be there about 9:45. My parenets and neighbor are either coming together or caravaning as well.

Nick and Len,
Wife and I will make a Publix run when we get down there to pick up some stuff for lunch at the pig pen. I don't have a grill but will be happy to pick some brats or dogs up to cook on one. Let me know if there is anything you need me to bring. Looking forward to seeing all of you

PS...all boats still rafted up when we leave are in the poker run. I will give out the instruction sheets when we are close to pulling up anchor(s). Should be interesting trying to raft up 15+ boats in that area. Should be interesting trying to dock ourselves at the bars to do the run on the way back west. Everyone please bring a couple fenders and plenty of line. The small boats are easy, the larger ones are gonna be tougher. I am thinking at least 5 boats will need to drop anchor. Hopefully Mad Max and another will have a windlass so we can adjust ourselves much easier. I hope the kayak cops won't be a pain in the rear again this year. "gotta move a foot here, move a foot there" I know they have a job but with a raft like this, gonna be a pain to adjust ourselves.

PSS...gonna be even more interesting when we get back to Mac's. Some of us might have to pull their boats as docking is not plentifull(there are more rooms than slips). Plus locals will be docked for the bar which they will eventually leave but... I know we can get 2 13's in one slip but it might be easier to yank the small boats if we need the room. I am not sure if they will let us park where the jon boats are, I think no.

Less than 24 hours before I make the long 7 hour run down I-75. So Janis, what boat are you bring or is it a surprise. Does anyone have some GPS numbers for some Sheephead structure in the gulf. May shoot out to open water for a few hours Friday if I get there early enough.
Tohsgib posted 03-12-2009 10:35 AM ET (US)     Profile for Tohsgib  Send Email to Tohsgib
Sorry to hear that Dave...my wife was bringing up 2 of her single friends :)

Got it Eric...your e-mail makes that quite clear ;)

Only ones not chimed in are Pat, SeaBob and Mad Max.

We have 12-13 boats that are definate(if Pat would let us know what he is doing). and 2 more if Mad Max and seaBob show. Lakeman is also a maybe I believe.

I got 2 bigass fenders yesterday. One you could almost put an outboard on and go.

We got the lasagna, bigass salad, and I think brownies.

Im in!!
Caravaning up with Steph, launch by 10 AM.
Since Linda and I (we) have an off an premise catering company, I can bring up a 5 foot gas grill so we can all cook/griull/eat at the same time.
I will bring 1 or 2 buffet tables for our food.
I can bring in maybe 20-40 burgers, acompanyments, buns, a commercial popcorn machine, what the heck we all love popcorn, even a dozen or so limes.
If I remember, coffe is a biatch in the am so I could bring a bigazz coffe maker for us in the am, complete with all the basics. I can also bring in styro plates and utensils, someone else can bring in paper towels.
Life is good!
Swellmonster posted 03-12-2009 09:12 PM ET (US)     Profile for Swellmonster  Send Email to Swellmonster
I will also bring styro cups for keg. Not too sure if a camp fire is allowed.....
Nick, are you bringing our infamous banner flags?
Also, fwiw, I have aquired a red whaler flag from my local dealer after investing in a new lower unit last year.
NOT TO be confused with the Sarasota event a few years back... : )

Just thought of something that might be a concern. If there is going to be as many boats trailered to this event as Nick indicates, will there be room for all of us to park for the feast Saturday evening?

Should not be a problem JJ. We have always made do in the past. Again if we have to yank a boat or 2 to make room at the dock we will. As far as trailer/car parking, that is plentifull.

SeaBob...meeting at the ramp at 10am.

Pat...good deal, it's about time you came through! I thought you were having dinner with Tom Cruise and Travolta on Sat night? "We should be dan-cing...YEAH!" I will be bringing the flags as well.

Joe...looks like Paper towels and some solo cups for the beer is on you :0)
