Hi Guys! Hi Jim!
Been away for 5 years or so.
Is there a Seattle area rendezvous this year?
The Montauk is a disaster. I have to get it buffed out quick so I can appear without shame.

I have not heard of any plans for this year.

I participated in a small get together last year @ Blake Island and thought it was a nice spot and could be good fun if we could some more boats/people there. Why don't people speak up here if they have any interest.

I missed the last couple of get togethers. I would like to see a few of the boats and meet some more local Whaler Nuts.

Blake sounds great! I have been trying to make it for several years now, maybe this time I will. Come up with a date, I have several friends that have been asking about it.

Blake is cool with me!

I'll join if the date fits into the summer schedule...

It was a nice time last year, looking forward to attending again this summer.

I can make it if we schedule in the 2nd half of Aug. (My Montauk may not be back from the lake cabin.)
All most anywhere in the Puget Sound will work for me.

Summer is upon me - I'm doing Whidbey Island Race week and a Boy Scout thing in Florida in July, and cruising to Princess Lousia in August... so there are not many weekends left.
We did Rendezvous at Blake, Dockton, Pt Townsend/Mystery Bay. The last is closest for me.
Langley? I'm on Whidbey during summer weekends so I'm biased in that direction. And the Schmitz beer is always cold at Honeymoon Bay.

Where do you still get Schmitz? Do they have Schlitz in Steel cans too? hahahahaa.
I just discovered I have to do the rubrail on the Montauk. oof.

Any place is fine with me. Langley is a really nice little marina and town. Port Townsend is a great town to visit. Blake Island is convenient.
I'll be back East July 2-12 and then sailing Desolation Sound August 22-29 so weekends on both ends of those sets of dates do not work for me.

I will try to make it this year. June is all booked up but any weekend in July, August, or September would work. Pick a place where I can spend the night on the boat. I have no problem sitting on anchor as long as it is at least somewhat sheltered.

I would be in depending on when it is scheduled.

My schedule is filling up FAST this summer. But so long as I can attend, I will. I like Blake because it is convenient for me, just a quick ride up from Gig Harbor where I have a slip for the summer. If it was up north this year, it could reduce the chances of my attending, simly based on the additional time required to pull the boat and trailer up there. That will depend on the dates. If I have the whole weekend free and can camp or stay somewhere nearby it's easier.
A few weekend dates that I am definitely NOT available are:
July 4th obviously
July 25-16 and August 1-2 are looking unlikely as well, but not definitely booked yet.

It is now down to the point where it would need to be the 3rd, 4th, or 5th weekend in August in order for me to attend.
That is assuming we would want to do it before Labor Day, and don't want to try to do it this coming weekend (July 18-19th).
If you guys are serious about doing this, lets toss out the dates that we're each available and figure out which would allow the greatest attendance.
I'm up for Blake Island again. My girlfriend enjoyed camping there last year, and wants to go again. We may even go this weekend regardless.

Where is Blake Island? Or do you mean Blakley?
posted 07-14-2009 01:25 PM ET (US)
It's way south Pierce, south of Alki, towards Vashon. John

Blake Island is not south of Alki...at least not significantly. It is pretty much directly west of downtown Seattle and Alki point. It is extremely convenient for most everyone in the greater Seattle area due to it's central location and ample dock and picnic capacity.
My preference might be for somewhere more far-flung, but we're running out of summer, and if this is going to happen, a decision needs to be made.

I think that's a little far for me.

I am now taking the boat to Blake Island the weekend of the 15th regardless. I'm meeting some friends there anyway. If it's going to be that weekend, it would have to be at Blake for me to attend.

Well if not a full on rondi how about some type of CW salmon derby?
