Any of you Michigan - Midwest Boys and Girls interested in a weekend outing on LSC? Maybe an overnighter at my club on the North Channel of the St. Clair River. I believe Buckda and Homeaside visited the club a few years back. Lots of members have Whalers and facilities are par excellent.

A day on St Clair sounds great to me. I need to get out to Riverside for my yearly visit as well. August is getting filled up but the only hard dates I have right now would be the weekend of the 29-30 as I will be Salmon fishing that weekend. One thing that could be cool to see but may be a headache as well is the Selfrige Airshow will be going on the weekend of the 22- 23. September usually provides so good boating as well.

I might be interested...depending on schedule.

I'm interested. As of right now I'm available any weekend in August except August 7 through August 9. I'm also available the last two weekends in September.

I'm game the only weekend I can't make it is the Weekend of August 22, I have a family wedding. I'll keep monitoring this, I'd like to do an overnighter at your club if it works out.

Are you and Donna making the Georgian Bay North Channel Trip starting July 25th out of Midland, Ontario. Bukda, Jimh, and Paul Mott are leaving on that date

I just found out that my Father towed the 22 Guardian home last weekend and it will here in the Detroit Area until the end of August. I am sure he would love to join as well.

Donna and I will be in Huron, Lake Erie for the Chris Craft Commander Rendezvous the weekend of 8/22 and the following week. Let me check the club's schedule for events and see what might be a good choice. Sounds like we could have a few boats.

Assuming I still have a boat by then, I might be up for this.

Perfect timing for this thread.

I'm contemplating taking a job in Port Huron. I've lived in Florida my whole life so there will be some adjustment.

I have a few questions if anyone feels like responding.

What is the town like, and what do you guys do for fun from October through May?

What's the employment picture look like up there. My wife is a 9th grade English teacher down here in the Tampa area. Are teaching jobs somewhat available, and what type of wages do they make.

Looks like real estate is pretty reasonable.

Thanks for any info.

I know people who love Port Huron - one of the City officials is a friend of ours (my wife mainly) and if he's still there he has a Montauk or might have gone to bigger boat. They did a great job (comparatively speaking to other Mich communities)) on their water front. I would definitely scout things out big time - evaluating everything within 25 and 50 mile radius from city center. It's kind of cool to be right next to Canada and in proximity to Georgian Bay, Eastern Lake Huron, Collingwood (Ontario) and Tobermorey (sp) areas. You're not that far from Detroit and Oakland CO which can be extremely cool and fun. I have not explored that area as much as I wanted to but will someday. Be advised of some industrial areas which are eyesores.

You could find yourself in much worse areas. Winters can grind you bigtime but you are a couple of hours from Blue Mountain ski resort in Canada which is best in Great Lakes and closest to out west skiing in my opinion.

Contact Don McIntyre, check his profile here on CW for e-mail, he's lifelong resident of Port Huron, and is very familiar with just about everything in that area. I personally like the St. Clair / Port Huron area, great boating opportunities in addition to other things that Pete mentioned....Plus you've got plenty of Continuouswavers in the area...

Depending on the date - I would be up for a trip. Has a date been set?
