I bought 14 tickets to the Wings game on December 9th and thought we could use this to narrow down our plans as for who is in or out, ect.

As of now, I have Myself plus 5 making 6, Dave, Jeff and Erin, Pat plus 1, and I understand Jim and Paul M were interested. This leaves one ticket for a family member or friend not on the list.

If anyone can't make it just let me know here and we can make changes as needed. Also, if more people want to go they could try to get tickets close to where our section is,
Seat location: section 206, row 19, seats 1-14

The tickets I got are close to center ice and are $55.00 each.

There is also some discussion on meeting up before the game for dinner and drinks for those interested. I am open to suggestions.

See you at the game.

Matt,
Cool, Nancy & I are in we'll pay you when we see you...as I said in my email to you, Nemo's Bar is pretty good, if you're into a great burger, etc for eats. They have $2 round trip shuttle bus tickets to the front door of Joe Louis Arena & back, secure parking, kind of a no brainer. If you want to go a little higher end, as Jeff mentioned "Slow" is a great BBQ joint, I don't think they have shuttles, but you can still make it down the street to Nemo's & catch the $2 shuttle

Jimh, were you planning to come? Your wife?

If anyone who is still debating on attending the game could let me know ASAP that would be good. I would like to get these tickets accounted for.

If I do not hear anything back in a few days I will just try to sell off the remaining tickets.

Matt,

Erin and I are looking forward to being there. I am down for what ever for dinner. I only threw out Slows in a selfish way. It is my favorite and any chance I get to eat there I try to...Nemo's will work as well. It is your night and you pick my friend.

mateobosch posted 10-26-2009 02:15 AM ET (US)     Profile for mateobosch  Send Email to mateobosch
I still have three tickets left for the game that are uncliamed so we need more Wings fans to join the group. If anyone knows people who might want to attend, contact me ASAP. They are now first come, first serve.

I plan to head into the Detroit area mid afternoon of gameday to stop in at Lockeman's and then get a few seats set aside for dinner at Nemo's. I figure with parking and a shuttle it will be a good option as Pat suggested.

We can finalize all these details at the holiday party provided I make it home in time.

Is this event replacing the December 5 event, or is it in addition to December 5?

Kevin,
This is an additonal outing put together by Matt, he wanted to go to a Wings game while home from Afghanistan.

OK, I was going through the numbers here again and I think we still have one ticket left. Can everyone please RSVP again here so I can get a final count?

Here are the game details once again. Wed Dec 9, 2009 Blues VS Red Wings. Game Time is 7:30 PM. Linking up at Nemo's for those who can make it at around 6 PM for dinner before the game.

Thanks,

Matt

I spoke too soon about the improved play of the Red Wings. They were outplayed by Edmonton last night.

The weather gods are not smiling on the cross-state trip to see the Red Wings tomorrow night.

I'll make a final decision tomorrow based on the track of this winter storm, but if it tracks slightly East overnight tonight and we get all snow, I'm probably not going to make it.

Dave, you pansy. You have a 4WD vehicle! :)
Buckda posted 12-09-2009 08:11 AM ET (US)     Profile for Buckda  Send Email to Buckda
Yes...but they've upgraded the watches now to warnings. We're under a Blizzard Warning for today starting at 1 PM through tomorrow afternoon a 4 PM.

I still have to work tomorrow!

Buckda posted 12-09-2009 08:17 AM ET (US)     Profile for Buckda  Send Email to Buckda
Having 4 WD is like having a Whaler. It doesn't make you immune.

Plus, there's money to be made tonight pulling people out of ditches.

Seriously, though.

The Griffins are home tonight and while minor-leagues are not the same as the majors, perhaps they'll trade my ticket for the Red Wings (same organization) straight up. I'd absorb that loss to still see some hockey.

We'll see how the weather develops later this afternoon.

David Pendleton posted 12-09-2009 10:34 AM ET (US)     Profile for David Pendleton  Send Email to David Pendleton
It's stopped snowing here. It looks like we got about 8 inches, but I haven't been outside yet.

I hope everyone enjoys the game.

jimh posted 12-09-2009 11:44 AM ET (US)     Profile for jimh  Send Email to jimh
Dave--The big storm delivered about 0.5-inch of slushy snow. Roads are clear in Detroit this morning. You can always stay overnight in Detroit area and drive back in the morning if it really snows.

Remember--TV meteorologist like to exaggerate snow.

jimh posted 12-09-2009 12:19 PM ET (US)     Profile for jimh  Send Email to jimh
Also--tonight I am good for the game but may not make the NEMO's dinner rendezvous. Most likely I will meet you all at the seats in the arena around 7 p.m. I am walking over from my workplace, which is just three blocks away from Joe Louis Arena.

I just spoke with Matt and all of his crew is bailing out. He is wavering right now but, he stated he was most likely going to be there.

Erin and I are going to be at Nemo's at around 5:30 - 6. See you there...

You guys on the East side forget how bad it can be over here.

The Lake is a relatively warm 46 degrees and the air is supposed to drop to the mid teens tonight with 40-50 MPH winds. That is a recipe for widespread blowing and drifting...but worse - LAKE EFFECT.

We're getting hit pretty hard right now, and the road conditions are just now starting to deteriorate.

Here is what the National Weather Service has to say:

quote:
IMPACTS...

* ALL TRAVEL SHOULD BE COMPLETED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

* TRAVEL WILL BE MOST SEVERELY IMPACTED LATE THIS AFTERNOON AS
SNOW... BLOWING SNOW...AND RAPIDLY FALLING TEMPERATURES OCCUR
NEAR THE TIME OF THE AFTERNOON COMMUTE. BLIZZARD CONDITIONS
ARE EXPECTED THROUGHOUT THE EVENING...

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

* IT WOULD BE BEST NOT TO TRAVEL TONIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY.

* IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT...FOOD...AND
WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.

* A BLIZZARD WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OR
FREQUENT GUSTS OF OVER 35 MPH ARE EXPECTED WITH CONSIDERABLE
FALLING AND/OR BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. VISIBILITIES WILL
BECOME POOR... WITH WHITEOUT CONDITIONS AT TIMES. THOSE
VENTURING OUTDOORS MAY BECOME LOST OR DISORIENTED... SO
PERSONS IN THE WARNING AREA ARE ADVISED TO STAY INDOORS.

The wings played like crap....It was a good night none the less.
jimh posted 12-10-2009 12:14 AM ET (US)     Profile for jimh  Send Email to jimh
Wings had 42 shots. They put the puck in the net once, but the goal was disallowed by the referee, who said he intended to blow the whistle. The Wings also hit the crossbar or the goal post at least twice. It could have easily been 3-1, Wings win.

It was fun to see everyone at a hockey game, not at a boat ramp. Egads it was cold on the walk back from the arena. I think the wave height forecast for the Great Lakes will be interesting tomorrow. The wind is really howling, but there is no snow at all on the ground here.

Buckda posted 12-10-2009 08:56 AM ET (US)     Profile for Buckda  Send Email to Buckda
JimH -

Forecast was for 15-17' Waves under a storm warning for the lake just West of Holland last night. Lower wave heights today as the wind has shifted slightly.

Generally speaking, the forecast was an EPIC FAIL, although it IS cold and drifting here this morning. The ride in to work was interesting/icy.

Glad you had fun and managed to sell the additional tickets from the crew from Holland/Zeeland.

I had a lot of fun getting together with everyone at the game. Maybe we can do it again sometime and have an even bigger turn out and a W for the Wings.

Thanks for all who could attend. I am almost done packing up here and am leaving early in the morning back to work for a while. See you on the water next summer.
