I would love to, but we will be in Savannah for Thanksgiving. Maybe see you on Dec. 10th?

I have a bunch of raking to do today but tomorrow (Sunday Nov 15th) is gonna be perfect weather - sunny and 74. The lake is crazy high.
For tomorrow, I could easily be coerced into hosting a mini-Rendezvous at the back of Balus Creek and grill some ribs or something. Or just run around on the lake a little.

Dave- I am fishing in the morning, might make a run up that way early, but can't do much more than stop by. I fished Flat Creek last week, had about 5 acres of boiling water at the mouth of Flat on Monday, fish feeding on the surface for over an hour, and nothing but a couple of small spots! Aggravation....k

No problem, Kevin, I will be in Atlanta tonight and not at the lake until maybe 10am. So maybe hit the cell but our time windows will probably miss. I think I am going to put the boat in and just cruise instead of grill out but will have my cell.
Funny thing, this boat comes up the creek today while we're raking the backyard. I look and it was a smirked Montauk with a big family. So I'm thinking maybe it's Matt dropping by. I head down the hill and it's not Matt. It's a big family in full camo gear with 3 or 4 shotguns. Had a Yamaha 115, looked like a late 80s or 90s Montauk. My guess is they were looking to sneak up on some ducks. They are about 3 weeks late, used to have a bunch back there, none recently.

I took my boat for a spin Friday at West Point Lake. The weather was perfect, but all kinds of crap in the water: logs, plastic bottles, tennis balls,.........
When the Chatahoochee floods all the garbage from Atlanta floats on down to West Point Lake.

I fished early this morning, beautiful day, caught a nice 12 pounder in front of the Dam, and then ran up to Dave's place. I knew I was in the right creek by the floating beaver-chewed logs! Nice place Dave, too bad I missed you! The cruise to your dock reminds me of a scene out of a Vietnam movie!
Phillip- There was alot of floating debris on Lanier too- with the high water, everything that's been accumulating on the banks (high and dry for years) is finally floating! Be careful!-k

Sorry I missed you Kevin but glad you found it!
In regards to the duck hunters. Looks like Lake Lanier has a small time frame (Nov 14th, 15th this year) where youth under 15 can hunt for duck. There is a late season for adults as well. My neighbor told me he heard 4-5 gunshots in the morning from the lake.
The rules state that the hunters must be 1,000 feet from any dock, house, park, etc. Not sure who shot that morning, but the family cruising by with their rifles out was definitely within 1000ft of houses and docks. Nice folks, though, it was good to see them enjoying boating as a family.

Kevin-I think the movie you're referring to is Apocalypse Now. I've been back to Dave's dock a few times and it can get a little creepy cruising around those bends. Duck hunting on Lanier, who would have thought. I guess that means it's ok to have a shot gun on board as long as it's not concealed. Just don't put in at a Corp. ramp, I know that's a no no. Garey

Sorry I didn't see this sooner...went to the lake yesterday too. Put in around noon and had lunch at Dockside- their last day of the year. The weather was beautiful, but the beaches were all covered up. I don't think I have ever seen it that high!

One of my favorite movies. A pair of 50cals in a turret would come in handy - mostly during the summer.
No takers for the 28th?

I don't think I'm gonna be able to do this one Matt. I'll have company that weekend, and they're not boaters! -k

Hello folks, am new to the Continous Wave forum. Have 1988 Outrage 18 in Birmingham AL. Would like to know about activities and gatherings in AL and GA for Whalers.

Welcome aboard. The Lake Lanier gang has two rendevous a year on the lake. Usually in May/June and one at the close of summer in late September or early October. The get together in May usually has the largest attendance with 12 or more Whalers at Wills dock last year. Stay in touch over the winter and we'll look forward to seeing you in the spring. I don't know if you'd be up for trailering down to Floida but there will be BIG rendevous in Hommassa in March. Watch this section for more info when it gets closer.

Menemsha69 and Nauti Tauk,
Thanks for the welcome to the forum. I will do my best to come to the Spring 2010 gathering. Tried to Yahoo "Wills dock" with no success. Is that a business or an individual? Am somewhat familiar with Lanier, having gone to school in Atlanta, and having lived there as an adult; that was a long time ago however. Am sure that more information will be available as the gathering gets closer.

gmoulder-Good to have you on board. We have a nice little Whaler crowd around Lanier. Will's Dock is Wet Willy's private dock. Will's just a cool guy that lets hook up there for the Rendezvous. It's on the North end of the Lake. See the attachment for a pick of last Spring.

Would love to have you join us in the spring, our home is just off of 11C on the Chestatee, We held two at the Dock last year and had a blast. Do a search back to May of last year and you will see directions, pics etc.

Thanks for the invitation. Looks like there was a good crowd, and water in the lake. My sister in Doraville says they will figure out who the water belongs to someday. The thumping sound you hear is my foot hitting my behind for not buying property up there when I had the chance in the 70's. Will ask for directions as we get closer to the time of meeting.
