Any of you guys taking your Whalers out to watch the surfing contest?

I'm thinking of running to Half Moon Bay to watch the contest when they announce that it's on. Waves are 30 feet right now but wind blowing the wrong way so they called it off. Maybe next week?

Looks like it'll be a little safer watching from the beach. :-)

I thought it was possible to watch from the westerly portion of Half Moon Bay. Harbormaster says he wouldn't recommend going out.

Bring your boots and slicker: Forecast for Half Moon Bay,
Sunday Night through Wednesday Night: RAIN. NOAA supposedly posted an
"OMG this is going to be a REALLY REALLY BIG ONE, lasting
maybe two weeks". I got it second hand. I'll see if I can
find the original post.

Wow, the link I provided above forecasts waves hitting 50 feet on Wednesday, the 20th.

I'm not sure I want to sit on a wet rainy windy beach to watch this, easier to watch the live Maverick internet feed.

It's going to be too windy to surf those 50'ers.
