Count us in! When, where and what do you want us to bring. I'll be back up to the shack the middle of April. Lois will get back to the mountians in May.

Count me in as well. I'm pretty busy in March and April. Anytime in May would work out great with me. Glad to see you're catching a few Kevin. Hopefully we'll see some Whaler folks soon. - Garey

If you guys dont mind a random whaler guy showing up, I would come if I'm still in the states when you have it. I live in Columbus GA. What part of the lake do yall put in at? The farthest north I boat is West Point.

burn- Absolutely! New faces and Whalers are always welcome! We usually put in at East Bank Park, but we'll firm up the details along with date and itinerary on down the thread! -k

I'm in. Random Whalers are great. In fact, while convoying up the lake, we pulled over a guy on an old 17 who was just out riding and encouraged him to join us. Jerry, you are the BBQ king, so there's my vote. Could be just me. Could be me, the wife and 4 kids... just depends on the weekend. If we need a beach, we need to scout for one since the lake is up... no complaints here though.

Thanks George. Glad you think she looked good though shes pretty dirty and due for a detailing. I blew another trim relay and they're wiring up a kill switch for me. Charles is the best. Always full of stories too. I could spend days exploring all the cool stuff in and around that shop. If any of you local guys want his info, let me know.

Dave - It's almost April and you haven't run the CII. Man, people are going to start talking about you. 11:30 sounds good. When's the Wedding? Soon right? We'll have to throw you in the lake or something special like that.

Kevin - what time do you think we should leave East Bank? 10:30? so we can take our time heading North? I picked up a Nikon DSLR, so I plan on getting plenty of shots of the boats underway and the event.

Murphy - I plan on being there all afternoon, or at least until Willy kicks me out. My sons (11 & 9) will be with me for their first Rendezvous. Hope you bring your little dudes.

About how long of a run is to where the meeting place is? I want to make sure I have enough gas, haha. I carry 15 gallons but my 1986 75 horse Mercury outboard really sucks down the gas. Like I said I plan on coming as long as I'm still in the states at the time. Sounds like it will be a great time!
mgeiger posted 03-25-2010 01:41 PM ET (US)     Profile for mgeiger
Around 12-14 miles. The morning run is easy, but in the afternoon it's pretty chopped up from the traffic.

Matt- Cohasset is at the shop (a new one, not one of the usual suspects) getting some updates. Nothing major, but at a minimum the drain tubes and a little glass work. Thanks for the ribbing but if I go in the water, I'm pulling drain plugs as retaliation. Oh wait, we're a bunch of Whaler guys and our boats will still float. Well, I will think of something. Better yet, I think "an extra beer" is special enough.

Looking forward to a great boating season until the house hopefully sells. Honeymoon in the Carribbean, bachelor weekend flyfishing in the Smokies. 2010 is shaping up to be quite a year.

Wet Willy,
Am looking forward to the gathering at your place. Will drive over from Birmingham with the 18 Outrage. Approximately how many people will be there, and I will bring potato salad and/beams or something. Please give me the coordinates of your dock, and your cell phone number. What do you suggest as the best put-in location?
Thanks, Gmoulder

gmoulder- You can put in at East Bank Park if you'd like to run up the lake with the rest of us. Here is a link to USACE maps. Click on grid 21, take a left in the cove after 11c, follow the blue line to the back of the cove.
East Bank Park is located on grid #1.-k

Gmoulder,
The biggest crowd we have had has been 32, we will take "roll" as we get closer. Also, Kevin had a great idea for you to run with the group, however, in comming from Birmingham,if you are pushed for time etc, Little Hall Park is a nice ramp less than 1 mile from the house. Kevin, can you put out a pm with ever one's cell, mine is still the same .
Thanks

All: Heading out from the interior of Alaska for Birmingham tonight. Looking forward to seeing the Outrage again and meeting with you on Saturday. Promises to be a good time. Will be armed with plenty of potato salad, beans, and probably some KFC grilled chicken. What time to meet at East Bank, and what is the roll count so far?
mgeiger posted 05-18-2010 01:52 PM ET (US)     Profile for mgeiger
Looks like 8 boats - Guessing appx 11 adults & 4 kids.

The East Bank floatilla is meeting at 10am.

Wx: 83 with 30% chc scattered t-storms. I can live with that. If that chance goes up much, I'll put in somewhere close to Will's awesome dock-ma-hall.

I've spent more time detailing and doing small fixes my Montauk than I am willing to admit, but it has been about 2 years since I finished my initial cleanup/restoration after purchase. Let's just say that the boat and I have not been out of the garage much in the last 6 weeks.

Someone may provide coords, but here's the general idea. On the Chestatee side, just south of the Hwy 53 bridge, there is a cove to the west. Idle your way back there, bear left with the dogleg and Will's is on the right. You can see the cove in drier days if you go to maps.google.com and enter "chestatee heights rd 30041"

What a nice outing. Good folks, cool boats, welcoming hosts and plenty of eats. And those photos ! Perhaps my flying career is not over. That little 15 looked pretty flighty . It never feels twitchey or scaey, but a little throttle management over the big wakes is prudent.
Thanks all so much.

Hey everyone, looks like some cool fog pics and a great time. Sorry I missed it and thanks for the offers for rides.

I got a chance to see my boat at the shop. The transom through hulls are in and so is the trim unit. The mechanic was able to fit an older Evinrude unit into the housing of the 88 SPL but he is still wiring it up. So just a few more items to go and the Cohasset II is back and better.

My house sold on the Monday after the Rendevous. I was able to get up there with a bucket of minnows on Sunday and reel in one last fish. It was a big catfish. The bait shop just north of West Hall High School is a real nice shop.

Hope to see you all on the lake soon
