We'll be up over the weekend for sure - probably the whole week. If you come to the parade, you might even catch me in drag!

On second thought, maybe we'll just stay home.
We've been to Bayfield on the 4th a few times, but never to the island. This year might be the first...

The parade on the island is special. One of the neatest I have seen anywhere in a long time. Try not to miss it if you are in the area.
It's a mix of really cute kids floats, ones by hippy artists (the fact that one of the mermaids was topless - technically she had pasties - last year caused a bit of consternation among the older folks and outright gawking by teenage boys), ones trying to make a political statement (I'm going to miss the Dick Cheney mask guy), and ones by folks with way too much time on their hands.

We planning on overnighting on the hook (or maybe on the beach) in Big Bay and picking up whatever Madeline activities we can, and a night on the beach at Outer Island, or whatever strikes our fancy...

Will be there July 2-5, 2010.
I've already heard from Plotman and WiseEd. If you're in the area, make sure you look us up...

We will be at plying the waters around the islands 8 - 12 July. We will be launching everyday, weather permitting, at the municipal ramp. We are staying at the Seagull Bay motel. Montauk 170, "VOYAGER".

Great to meet up with you guys, Dave, and thanks for the pictures.
Did you make it over for the parade Sunday?
Here are some photos from our version of fireworks on Sunday night. I wish I had a picture of it, but all that wood came in one load in the 15 from the rocks on the point.

We did. We saw the kids dressed in their Yellow-bellied Sapsucker costumes.
Our favorites were the group throwing the giant stuffed fish into the air (the Asian Carp "float"). That was a riot to watch.
I also caught a hot dog from the Weiner Dog Choir. It was still warm.
I looked for you, but obviously didn't find you.
This is going to be a regular thing for us.
