Here we go again! Gonna do beercan beach(not beercan island in Tampa Bay) which is between Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key just inside Longboat Pass. People who are not familiar with the area can meet at my house and take the 45min-hour cruise up the river to the beach. People who are familiar with the area can meet us there about 11am or so. If anyone needs directions to my house, e-mail or call me. If anyone needs directions to Beercan, do the same or google it. This is always a fun day and I hope to see you there.

I will bring the 37' out to Beercan that day for bathroom and food prep/refrigeration. Kid's could nap on it too or watch video's.

A grill like we had on Frank's boat would be great for the boat if one is available? I have a Magma but they are small.

We can go back to my house after. Plenty of dock space, babecue, pool and bar. Plenty of extra room now with the new floating addition.

Cool Len, plan to bring Mel and the girls so cabin will be nice if needed. I have a propane camping grill like Frank had at BBQ. Can we cook on beach? Hope to see you all there!

Pete, you whipped dog!!! I am in. Looks like work won't get in the way this weekend unless a disaster happens between now and Friday. What can I bring? Sandy most likely won't be at the beach, but come to the party afterwards (at Lens house I assume) Len, you offered us a room before, does the offer still stand?
an86carrera posted 06-07-2010 07:46 PM ET (US)     Profile for an86carrera  Send Email to an86carrera
Sure Frank. There is extra room now with floating addition too so no drunk driving, beds for 11 and the floor for more. Porch for dogs.

I am going to ask that y'all bring bed linens. I don't think we have that many and Margit will be hating me all week doing laundry.

The are four more places in the Westfalia too, but no A/C yet. And then the flybridge...

Frank you better bring more than stogies, unless the dog ate it. Is anyone planning on meeting at my house, etc. If so you better let me know as it is already Thursday. If not I am heading out about 10, meeting a couple boats on the way and getting there about 11ish.

Should I bring my propane camping grill? Will bring a canopy tent for beach.

PeteB88 posted 06-10-2010 04:37 PM ET (US)     Profile for PeteB88  Send Email to PeteB88
You know why, Joe? Because they are all friends and they know how to enjoy life, have fun and don't get all hung up in stupid shxxt. And if they never met you you will be friends for life as long as you are not a jerk or dumbass. They are all hard working, responsible people and are freaking cool. I had my plane tickets ready to go but have piles of priorities in Mich I could not get around.

Joe, let's go next time.

I'm trying to jazz up the Michigan crew and need those FL guys to come up here and show us how to do it. Sad statement for a place that once knew how to get together and have a blast....

whether times are good or bad or happy or sad....

Go Al Green!!!

We all better take a lesson people because this is one cold ass cru-el world sometimes. We got the boats and the advantages and we need to pass that on to the next generation. I keep hearing FZ say "whatever happened to all the fun in the world?" and I worry about that.

I'm gonna miss those guys this weekend but me and Gib, Charlie and Ellen gonna find some fun on Sunday in Detroit area - maybe Modern Skate George if he can get free.

I lost a very close friend and Macedonian compatriot last week, way too young at 55, can't believe it. I am depressed about the Gulf and can't imagine what Biggie, Len and those guys are thinking about it 1500 miles away from here. I was at Beercan in April, have some great photos of Len's Montauk there on the sand. I hope it stays as pristine as it is.

I swear if things don't lighten up around here I'm moving down there oil or no oil, job or no job.

We know Joe and kinda like him as long as the flag is still good.

Pete the news makes the Gulf look much worse than it is, kinda like Detroit....oh I take that back.

Well, it seems that a fun time was had by all or most of us that attended the Beercan rendezvous. A super nice day with sun, sand, and still clean Gulf water was our setting. A corn vendor(Nick) even showed up with a crate full of fresh Florida corn. Perhaps he thought we were going into the whiskey distilling business. Or maybe make it harder for me to fall out of a chair by having to force me to make my whiskey before I drink it. Len(an86carerra) provided the support vessel (37' SeaRay) so we had shelter, AC, ice, and a real toilet. This was a well attended event by mostly locals, so we had 9-10 boats at one point or other during the day. In the late afternoon we motored back to Len's house for coctails on the deck and some fresh water swimming in his pool. We had a varied menu that included burgers and dogs, brats, cole slaw, baked beans, roast beef, and a scorched slab of ribs that only a few were willing to risk their dental work on. After dinner cigars were provided by Stefan (stefan) to help us ease all that stress from a day on the water. To say the least, our location, boats, and comraderie are the tops and hopefully we can continue the tradition long into the future despite the fact that the oil slick is headed our way.

This is usually more of a hangout than a rendezvous. We just stand around and shoot the bull for a few hours. The good thing about it is we are mostly the "regulars" that show up. The better thing is we get one or 2 boats who are not regulars and then they become one if they chose as they get to really know us better due to a small crowd. Always a hoot, always a hassle of some sort, but always a good time with good friends, food, beer, and especially CORN!!!

Thanks to Len for being Captain to my family for the day and hospitality at the house. Pleasantly surprised how smooth Frank's boat was trimmed up, along w Pat's guess those post classics ain't so bad after all:-).

No need for freeze dried ribs in Detroit w/ some of the best BBQ on the planet. I just kept looking at the Detroit River and wishing I was at the beach with you guys while we were cruising past the "beach" on Belle Isle.

Best BBQ on the planet? Your standards must be pretty low. I've been too Detroit a few times on biz and all the food has a motor oil aftertaste. Oh wait that's FL never mind

I meant to add "on every corner" - well you guys around Len's place have some awesome on every corner BBQ - I seen 'em! and was going to grab me some ribs on the way to the airport in April. Looks like the Q masters are converting full size propane tanks and they looked way cool.

NO Frank, it's chili dogs (cony's) and Buddy's Pizza. Lafayette, National, Hercules, Athens, Gus's. Besides chili dogs and Buddy's everything deep fried.

The Dutch started waffles & fried chicken...then again they also started slavery.

The Dutch....we live by Dutch people. Well there's lots of Greek food in Detroit and the Macedonians invented the bag pipes. Best gyros on the planet - King Gyro in South Bend. And then there's Hamtramck.

Nick - I had my annual octopus in Tarpon Springs on my way to meet you guys and gave Marget the left overs.
