Work will be winding down a bit for me in August and Carmen and I are planning to get up to Torch Lake for a weekend in early to mid August.

We plan to explore the chain of lakes, get some sun by the sand bar on Torch Lake and just relax.

Anyone interested in getting together up there for a few days?

Maybe, depends on the date.

I'm interested too....maybe We could make arrangements at the Boston whaler Dealer/Marina that we had the rendezvous at a couple of years ago.

Pat,

I called down to Dewitt Marine today and they currently have 4 slips that are side by side for the weekend of the 12th. We could always all meet up at the store part of the day on Saturday if everyone wants to. I am OK with making plans with a Marina but I want things to be easy going and focused on relaxation.

We will be making reservations soon at a campground or motel in the area so if anyone is interested in staying semi-together we can figure something out. There are plenty of motels in the area or within a small drive.

Who else wants to get out on Torch this summer?

It will be a good time!

Matt

Torch Lake is on my list of places to see, but I already have plans in the Leelanau peninsula for that weekend. I will be staying in Omena, and I will have my boat with me. I hope you have excellent weather for your trip.

Thanks Kevin, I hope the weather is nice for you as well up there. If you change your plans at all, come find us on the sand bar at Torch.

As the eagle flies, Omena and Torch Lake are only 10 or so miles apart.

So far we have a few people interested. Carmen and I are planning to camp for the weekend and we will be making reservations soon. Is anyone else interested in meeting up for a few days on the lake or camping?

We will be heading up for the weekend on Thursday the 11th and will be staying at the Chain O' Lakes Camp Ground. Anyone interested in camping can make reservations by calling 231-533-8432. It is a boat/dog friendly camp ground.

Who's still interested? You can't find a nicer lake around here to boat on!

If we come, it will be a day trip on Saturday or you could come to Suttons Bay to hang out on GT Bay with us. This invitation is open to other CW members too. We have company arriving on the 12th.

It also depends on Fisher's health. It has been 6 weeks since the vet diagnosed the sarcoma (cancer). At that time, they could not give us a time line. Thought maybe it would be day to day, but it has been week to week. He seems to be doing OK. He is fairly active, chasing water fowl, swimming, appetite is great, but does sleep more that what he did. Grateful the pain med isn't having any side effects.

Invitation to CW members (including K Albus, Waterwonderland and others in the GT area).
Saturday, August 13th, rendezvous on Grand Traverse Bay/Suttons Bay.
To Matt, Carmen and other BW owners who will be hanging out on Torch Lake, on Saturday morning you could splash at the Elk Rapids Marina, then it is a 30 minute ride to the end of Stony Point. Another option is to trailer your boat to Suttons Bay, but I think it would be faster by water from ER. After a day on the bay, you are invited a Cedar hot dog (homemade hot dogs) roast on our beach. Bring a dish to pass and your favorite libation.

Looks like there is no interest for cruising Grand Traverse Bay on Saturday and the hot dog roast. Hope those of you who will be in the area enjoy your time on Torch Lake or where ever you may go.

If I had but world enough and time...
I'd be in Suttons Bay this weekend.
Alas, can't get up there this time!

Sorry I didn't answer earlier, I've been pretty busy keeping up with my ailing father, as well as work. Helping my 88 year old Dad get into the swing of things with dialysis treatments seems to uncover new complications at every turn.

Thus I won't be boating this weekend, but there's plenty of time for that as we all know... my regards to Matt & Carmen as well as Con & Martha for the invitations.

Sorry you had crappy weather yesterday, but Friday was great.
Yesterday and all night, GT Bay had white caps with a NE wind. They say the gusts were up to 20. But at least the sailors were happy.
