Hi Hal - Doesn't look like I will be making it more than a few miles north of the Ohio River this year so I will miss this wherever it is held. Dave, |

A little over a month to go on this. Anybody have any ideas? Anybody have a request for any particular date(s)? |

Hal, Thanks for offering, unfortunately for me I wouldn't be able to swing a trip to Minnesota during December when we generally plan these get togethers. Believe me, I'm not trying to de-rail any efforts on your part to host a get together. But knowing that a significant number of participants are from the Michigan/Metro Detroit area, and not much response has been posted (not that unusual). Nancy & I would also be willing to host the GLBWCC Holiday Rendezvous at our home in Farmington Hills, Mi. if you don't get the sufficient response to make it happen at your home. I'll be monitoring, to see what type of response comes in!! Pat |

Elsa & I can attend a Michigan event. Any of the first 3 weekends in December would work for us. A Minnesota gathering would be fun, but we already have too much travel planned for November, December and January. -Don |

I knew A MN Holiday get 2gether would be frowned upon... I don't want to be in MN in December either. Mainly, I was just trying to initiate the conversation. Hal |

Hi Hal, I really feel badly about personally not being able to attend a Minnesota Holiday gathering. I appreciate your offer to host. I've said many times, especially after Dave Pendleton, John Raby, and yourself having come out to Michigan, that we Michiganders should reciprocate and come your way..... Unfortunately for me, with my work schedule and not knowing what my December schedule will be until the very end of November, makes traveling in December very difficult, then throw in the Holidays and it never looks good for me....I think any reciprocation and trips to Minnesota on my part will have to be in the form of a Summer Boating Rendezvous planned well ahead of time. I propose we hold the GLBWCC Holiday Rendezvous on Saturday December 10, 2011. Nancy and I will host the Saturday evening dinner & festivities. Please post if you'll be able to attend and any ideas for the daytime field trip portion of the event. Personally, I think we're due to stop by the Dosin Great Lakes Museum this year... Pat |

I was down @ Lockman's on Monday and Dave said he was hopping the Whaler group would be making the annual morning stop at the shop. However he had not been contacted as of Monday to firm up the plans for 12/10/11. |

Dave is working on something for those that are attending that I think everyone will enjoy.....so don't miss this one!!! I'm also thinking that we are overdue for a visit Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle! Any other suggestions for the field trip portion of the day are welcome. Pat |

OK everyone, I need to start getting the numbers together so we can plan a menu of the evenings fare, amount of food, etc. I'm thinking Salmon &/or Beef Tenderloin for the main, I'll need voluteers for, appetizers, side dishes, salads, & desserts (I think Matt said something about Apple Pie). BYOB Beer & Wine The schedule for the day time activities is 1. Lockeman's Hardware & Boats 2. Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle or J.W Wescott Mail Boat on the Detroit River 3. Lunch 4. Nautical Lumber (based on Mike's availability) to see some of his new projects. 5. Break Time 6. 7:00PM Dinner Festivities at Pat & Nancy Henahan's home 29637 Colony Circle Drive Farmington Hills, Mi 48334 Cell#1-248-892-8580 The schedule is subject to change if anyone has other ideas for activities So if you can let me know who & how many in your group, what you will be bringing re: food I'd appreciate it so we can finish planning Pat |

Lockeman's opens at 9:00AM. So we will start there. Jeff had sent out an email regarding a tour of the USCG Cutter Bristol Bay, but more recently contacted me saying he wasn't going to be able to participate in the day time/field trip portion of the redezvous, so the next stop after Lockeman's will be Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle. I'll be posting a list of those that have replied and who is contributing what to the evening meal. It appears Dave Pendleton is going for the "I traveled the farthest" award..... Pat |

Ok here is the list as it stands... Pat & Nancy - Salmon & Beef Tenderloin We're all set to start at Lockeman's on Saturday morning December 10, 2011. They open at 9:00AM. Dave & Dorothy have planned something special for the attendee's so try & be at Lockeman's by 10:00AM at the latest. Because there will be coffee, bagels, donuts, etc at Lockeman's, our next stop will be at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, and hopefully after that a light lunch. Evening festivities will be at my place, beginning around 7:00PM. http://www.lockemans.com/index.html http://www.detroithistorical.org/main/about_dossin.aspx http://www.mapquest.com/maps?address=100+Strand+Dr&city=Detroit& state=MI&zipcode=48207

Dave P and John R--we will miss you guys at the Holiday party. L H G--Nautical Lumber has just moved or is still in the process of moving to new headquarters, and we won't be visiting them on Saturday. But I bet their woodworking will look great. We had a great visit at Lockeman's Hardware and Boat. We were treated to an excellent presentation by the Detroit River's Riverkeeper, Robert Burns. We then visited the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle, for a self-guided tour. I thought I better post this news because when I get back from Pat's house tonight after the party I probably won't be able to type very well on the laptop keyboard. |
