Wow! I've been Whalerless since I sold my Outrage 22 a couple years ago and it's been a while since I've lurked on CW. I see the vast display of information is still cruising along. Well done jimh and all!

We are renting a house and a classic 15' Whaler on Mt. Desert Island for the first week in June. The Whaler is moored at Northeast Harbor.

I'd appreciate if anyone would share your favorite sightseeing, cruising areas appropriate for this boat. The crew will consist of Mama and the kids age 14 and 10.

Wow Jeff,

Seems like forever since you sold the Katama...for a bigger Whaler right? Good to see you back here!

Hey Steve,
Great to hear from you!

Yes, I sold the Katama to a guy in Rhode Island ages ago; bought an old Outrage 22 then sold that to a guy in Virginia. I'm currently Whalerless but I get my fix from sailing and building a wood boat.

Are you still driving the Loolee?

Yep! Loolee is still huffing and puffing away... chasing salmon, diving with me and playing in the local rivers. It's a dirty work boat all the way, but I love her like that!

Nothing wrong with sailboats, and I know there are plenty of other great boats out there...Loolee just happens to fit everything I do. Maybe you'll get back into a motorboat one of these days, although I like your gas mileage in the current arrangement!

Cruising options depend on how adventurous you are and what the weather is like. Somes Sound -- just north of your mooring-- is a nice easy trip. Next up in adventure would be Swans Island-- a true Down East experience. Just a bit further west-- but doable in a 15' if relatively calm-- would be Isle Au Haut and Stonington.

Beyond that you may be pushing things.
