Is anyone interested in spending some time in the Nipigon Bay/Slate Islands area around the end of June/beginning of July?

Now I have to get Bonnie's book out again. Just what I want to do in the dead of winter, read about boating.

I just read the reviews on ActiveCaptain.com for Red Rock, Nipigon, and Rossport. It seems that none of these places, which would be the only major marina facilities in the area, have what could be described as clean, modern bath and shower facilities. There is some information on the internet which indicates that Red Rock was supposed to get new bathroom and shower facilities in May 2012, but the reviews I saw were dated later than that and indicated that no such facilities were available.
As we previously discussed, Hoosier, I'm in for making this trip in 2014. Obviously any experience you gain by making the trip in 2013 will be very helpful for a later trip. I'm looking forward to the wilderness aspects of such a trip, but it would be nice if there was at least one stop along the way where I could get a decent hot shower.

I'm still doing research on the availability and quality of shore facilities, however your comments have me thinking that this might be a prudent investment.

I don't know but I bet you can find a really big bath tub up there.

Red Rock's website now says the new "Facilities" will be ready in May 2013. It also says a pump out is $25...

One of our members who hails from Ontario showed me his Zodi, and mentioned he LOVES it.
Made a slight mod, draws water straight out of the lake, and re-wired it to run off of the 12volt house battery in his Whaler.
