I have a 1999 Dauntless 14, which is my first Whaler and I love it. But it is no longer in the Whaler product line. The closest is the 16' Dauntless or the 15' commercial (which has a different stern design)Does my Dauntless 14 now qualify as a "classic" Whaler? Tsuriki

I don't know about being "classic", but it is now a rare boat, that is loved by its owner, unsinkable and built with whaler quality. I would hold on to it and enjoy it. After all, it is a whaler :) |

The 14 Dauntless was introduced in 1999 and discontinued for 2001, so a 2 year run, I believe. Was a very nice, well built, and nice riding boat, but was outclassed by the 16 Dauntless, which had stern seating and wasn't so cramped. For one or two people, though, the 14 was a honey. If I didn't have 2 Whalers already, I would have tried to add one to my stable, but then I would have had to build a dog house next to it (for me to sleep in). |

I am not quite positive. I went to Classic Whaler and looked at the defination. Classic are the Hulls that have decended from the orginal sea sled design in 1958 to the present. This would mean that the 13 Sport and the 17 Montauk is the only contemporary classic left at present. There is another Boston Whaler I just heard of produced in the 80's tht did not make the list of Classics "the Mischief", a ski boat design. This makes me wonder if the Outrage line (I believe started in the early 80's) with their Deep Vee would qualify to be a "Classic". If the Outrages are Classics then it is possible that the Dauntless line which followed in the Outrage Deep Vee hull design development may also be a contemporary classic. food for thought. Bear |

My mistake the Mischeif is in the Classic Whaler line up. I had seen one fully restored on boattrader.com in red. I would say a call to Boston Whaler would be in order to find your answer. The question being " Is the accutrack hull a completely new hull design or did it evolve from Whalers Deep Vee hulls?". |
