The mailman just delivered a 'certified mail' letter from Boston Whaler. It states:
"Boston Whaler has discovered that over- current protection has not been installed as required in a limited number of boats. Due to this manufacturing noncompliance, Boston Whaler has initiated a voluntary U.S. Coast Guard recall to correct this issue."
My 2001 Montauk falls within the range of this notification. I am to bring her to the selling dealer and have it installed at no cost.

Sounds like they neglected to put a fuse somewhere.

Taking mine to the dealer this AM. Something about battery cable length and insulation. I'll get more details when I get there.

Just got off the phone with the dealer. Montauks affected are missing main circuit breaker. Funny, I asked about this when I took delivery. In my 16 Dauntless main breaker was mounted in the console. Didn't see one in the Montauk console but I thought the terminal block mounted on the transom splash well had the breaker. Due to liability dealer said Whaler won't let me install this myself, so another long trip to the dealer. Dealer estimates install at around 4hrs.
