Peter, the paddle is located on a plastic, transom mounted bracket and the rotations send signal to "Smart Craft" system for speed, distance, range, Mpg, etc calculations. Sometimes debris will slow or stop the rotation and you will get the warning message. A hard object can actually tip the paddle wheel up out or the water stream! Inspect the paddle wheel and if there is debris clear it away and check to verify that it's not tipped up.. if so, simply pull it down and you will feel it "click" into the normal "run" position! That's about it unless paddle wheel had been knocked completely off in which case you will most likely need a new paddle wheel (includes the water temp transducer, I think) assembley including cable! Check it out! Good luck.. Clark.. Spruce Creek Navy
