I've noticed several places Whalers from the early 90's advertised as 17' Outrage's...to my eye they look much more similiar to a late 80's 18' Outrage then to my 1997 17' Outrage.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks

Chris

The oldest brochure I have is 1993 so I don't have specs on the 18s. The early 90s 17 Outrage comes in a little smaller than your 1997.
Length 17'3"
Beam 6'8"
Draft 10"
Weight 1020#
Capacity 1365#
Swamped capacity 1850#
Max HP 120

The early Outrage 17 was an entirely different boat than the new ones, CHenry. Smirker(sponsoned)hull, much lighter and more maneuverable. They weighed 1020lb and were rated for 120hp, as Dick pointed out above, compared to your 1700lb boat rated for 150.

An excellent example of why I like the 70s and 80s whalers so much more than the new ones, Montauk excepted.

Red sky at night. . .
