the pin stripping that comes on a montauk, is it factory or is it added at the dealer. if it is from the factory do they ever change the color on it because the one on my 99 is green and i have seen other 99's with red and blue. i realize i can change them but just wanted see if there was a standard.

I wasn't sure if you were talking about casting with a fly rod or just being lewd...perhaps you meant to say striping?

Beleive it or not, the color of the tape stripe is a factory option on late model Montauks.

Red is standard, blue or green are options.

I think black is also an option.

I have always liked the Montauk without the stipe, since the stripe makes the hull look smaller, and with the larger "Outrage" sized red logo.

Interesting stuff about the stripes, but it was a lot more interesting when it appeared to be about flashing or skinny-dipping.

I thought we were going to be talking about taking old finish off of wood work. I guess not in the post-classic section :)

I had a girlfriend back in my midlife crisis days who would strip and sunbathe nude in the bow of my Sakonnet while we trolled for dolphin off Ft Lauderdale. One day a SSBN surfaced about 200 yards away and cruised by with the bridge so full of binoculars it looked like a giant bug with one, multifaceted eye.

One of my favorite memories.
