Planning here on some winter projects.

The first one is I am thinking about an electric trolling motor for my D15. I can't decide if a bow mount or a stern mount would be best. Also, for stern mount, is there enough room in the transom to mount it alongside the OB or do I need to add a motor mount.

Any thoughts too on which trolling motor to use?

I have a Dauntless 14 with electrics on both the stern and the bow. Both are Minn Kota 44lb thrust.

The bow motor is a foot controlled and is for bass fishing. The stern drive is used for trolling (fresh water) for trout and sometimes salmon in the lakes).

I have the stern motor mounted on an adjustable motor mount.

If I had it to do all over again, I would go with a stern saltwater version, and probably more like 75lb thrust. 44 is fine but a little extra would be better.

Remember to consider a good quality Deep Cycle battery, possibly on board charger (I have a Guest and would recommend it for both the cranking and deep cycle batteries) and wiring.

You will enjoy the quiet operation.
