followup to earlier posting. I have a house that I can park my boat at in Michigan, I also have a shore station to lift it our of the water. further I am having a canvase cover built for the center console and seat. however the rest of the boat would be unprotected. is this bad? what should I do for the boat?

I normally keep my boat on a lift during the summer...except when we trailer it over to Lake Michigan or another lake. I keep it covered with the Sunbrella mooring covers, but otherwise don't do anything special for it. The hull has stayed clean and pristine...as far as the decks and motor, I just give it a good scrub and a hosedown once in a while to clean off any bird droppings or bugs. If you can't cover the entire boat, the only thing I would really worry about are the cushions...being exposed to the sun can really do a number on them after a while...

Where is your place in Michigan?

My place is in Saugatuck Mi, about 30 min north of Benton Harbor, 10 miles south of Holand on the west coast side.

We get to Saugatuck fairly regularly...we have a summer place in Ludington and my in-laws live in Pentwater, so we spend a lot of time on that side of the state. That is a great area for boating and fishing! Your new Outrage ought to be perfect for Lake Michigan and the inland lakes around Saugatuck and Holland. We are trying to put together a "small" (18' and under) Whaler rendezvous sometime this summer...check out the "Whaler Bake-off" thread in the Trips and Rendezvous section of the forum...maybe we'll see you at that get-together.
