I know there have been some negative comments on the 23 foot Walkaround from the early 90's and the handling in a following sea. Are these problems unique to the whaler drive models or did the standard transoms have the same issue?

I am not sure about regular vs. WD transoms. However, the handling problems with this boat are not confined to following seas. Any time you take a wave other than dead on (and even then sometimes) this boat gets a mind of its own. It dips, dives, runs. It always seems as if it is on the edge of broaching. It also seems impossible to trim properly.

I owned a 23WA from '92-'96 and never noticed any unusual behavior other than pounding in 3 ft chop. It had a notched transom.
