the dealers around here (Florida) do not seem that willing to haggle on the price of a new whaler (advertised at 8995). Is that normal?

That's the same price they are going for in Connecticut.

Ask them to deduct the freight .

Tabasco, is that the out-the-door price in CT, or is freight and dealer prep extra?

I think you are fighting a losing battle trying to bargain on the pricing of a 13. Even though $8995 is a lot of money, that model is a "loss leader" package. They make very little $$ on it but make a new customer that they hope will buy a larger and more profitable boat in a year or two. You'd be better off to look for someone who is ready to move up from their 1-2 year old 13. Just my .02...

I don't think they haggle no matter the size.

The price on my Montauk never waivered, and when a buddy of mine was looking for a larger offshore boat, the more he negotiated on a Whaler the more it cost due to factory increases. He bought a 29' Luhrs instead.

I ended up going with the 13 w/ the 25 hp four stroke, for 9495. the only "haggle" room I got was for them to drop the freight and dealer fees.

Great boat...put a few hours on it this weekend..

Not sure but I was at Skip Barbarie's,theBranford Whaler dealer and he had a new 13 with big $8995 on the side of the boat. Im sure you could get it for that out the door with skip.........just tell him Ray from New York sent you :-)

Thanks for the info - I don't get down that way very often and was curious as to the current prices of the Sport 13's. I am familiar with Birbarie's, having purchased my 2000 Sport 13 from them two years ago. I am now looking to sell it and wanted to price it fairly. At the time I purchased, the list price was lower, but I did pay for freight, dealer prep and a battery. They are a great dealer and treated me right.
