Trailer question for '95 21' outrage

Looking for some advice. I am a proud new owner of a 1995 21foot outrage. Can anyone recommend a trailer brand. I heard that these boats have to have 80% of their weight resting on the keel and 20% resting on bunks. Is this correct?

There have been quite a few discussions about trailers. I have a '94 21' Outrage and have a tandem axle bunk trailer. It works just fine.
Congrats on the new boat! You'll love it.

Check out Shorelander www.shorelander.com it is what BW is putting under many of the boats now and many of them have keel rollers on the bunk trailers making loading and unloading much easier than just bunks. Also shop around with different dealers, as I found that the same trailer varied in price by 20% when I was looking for a trailer for an 18' outrage.

Gregg4 - your 80/20 arrangement should be fine - in my mind. I too, have a Shoreland'r trailer under my 17' OR with two 8.5' x 6" bunks, each positioned about midway between the keel and the gunwale. Being aware of the changes that Kingfish made on his trailer, I gave some thought to installing a contoured keel bunk (even load support over perhaps 2/3 of the keel) and using about the same load ratio as you mentioned. I e-mailed Shoreland'r and BW asking their thoughts - Shoreland'r thought it was 'overkill' and I have not yet heard from BW - and at this time, I suspect that I will not.
My thoughts - I will build and install the keel bunk - perhaps overkill, but just good support for the boat. ----- Jerry/Idaho
