Newer montauk stern seat in an older whaler

I had posted in the general section, and figured I probably should have posted here. Any help from the post classic section would also be very much appreciated. I am looking into purchasing a stern seat for my montauk 1996. I know in order to get one for my year you need to go to a place like Dave's U. I happen to like the style of the newer seats better than the older style... I know it's not original! But I like the newer pattern (2000-2001.)
I have two questions... is a 2000-2001 stern seat exactly the same specs wise? will it fit in my 96 Montauk. And do whaler dealers charge the same when it comes to NOS parts?
In other words if I shop around a little, can I find a better deal on the seat or do they all fare about the same.
sorry one last question... can I still get a 2000-2001 stern seat since the new montauk has arrived.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I have a 99 Montauk with the stern seat and am happy with it. The part number for the 1999 seat is 100-70332. As I was working at the dealership I got mine at cost and would expect a dealer to charge $1,300.00 + for it.
I am sure I have a picture of the installation, let me know if you would like it e-mailed.

Thanks Dick. I figure you are right on with the price. I would love to see pics of the seat if you don't mind. You can email me @
