Anybody own one and have comments? It seems like an ideal step up from my Montauk, providing many of the same attributes (low gunwale, center console, etc.). How will I like the build and fittings quality as compared to my 1986 Montauk?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

PS. It appears that they are changing the design for a mid-2003 release; the stern seat will be built in and fold down, and my dealer speculates that they will have to move the gas tank forward to compensate for the additional weight of the seat plus the availability of the 4 stroke 225 hp. merc.

I own a 22 ft 2002 Dauntless with a 225 Honda four stroke (Guess you cannot chose a non merc engine anymore). We are very pleased with the boat. It is a very dry boat, planes fast, is stable, and takes a chop very well.
It took us some time to get used to the low freeboard but got over that rather quickly. We have had no problems with the boat and love it. FB

KleyP Did that dealer say anything else about the new 22 dauntlass to be introduced sometime in mid 2003? This would be the obivious next model redesign as I believe everything except the outrage 29 has been re-done and produced. The 22 is long over-due for a redesign. Its a great Whaler now. And Im guessing prob an even greater design coming of the drawing board next summer. Anyone whose heard of any feedback on this "possible" new design please post. This might be worth waiting for. Whataya think?
