I have been thinking of adding an in floor hatch under the cooler in front of the center console of my 1997 20 outrage. under the cooler would not detract from the looks of the boat.

size is unknown at this time. Just starting to look at hatchway sizes that are avalible.
Just wondered what people would think of the idea.

Wayne: I love the bowmar hatch! Itís watertight and never rattles. I keep a 2-man tent [my aft cabin :)] along with self-inflating mattresses, and a couple spare lifejackets down there.

louie how large is the compartment inside? the photos of the lid on the 22 did not seem that large. I know im working with a smaller boat but sounds like im going to get a lot usable space.

Wayne,
Im toying around thinking about an electronic box for extra storage of some type mounting it to the 2 pedestal seats stands. There is a little wasted space there.

42" long x 28" wide x 13" high
The bomar hatch is 20" x 14", but the opening is only 18" x 12"

Hope this helps.

Louie- What kind of self inflating mattress do you have? I am looking to buy one for my 4 person tent (only two people sleep it it). I like having the extra room.

Therm-A-Rest.

Our Ďaft cabiní is a 2-man tent that fits behind the leaning post. It was modified with some extra fabric sewn at the footings so that the pegs donít scratch the floor, and is a breeze to set up or tear down. The 2 mattresses and fleece sleeping bags keep us toasty.

We never feel the floor.
