I would like some ideas on how to install a fishing seat on my Montauk. Does anyone have one that they really like and can you tell me where to buy it and how high it needs to be so that the rails do not come into play. I would like to mount it on the anchor box lid. I do a lot of speckled trout fishing and I am tired of standing up 3 or 4 days a week. Thanks for the help

You have a couple of choices.
1. As you mentioned, you could buy a standard pedestal seat and mount it to your Anchor lid. Of course with this choice you will have permanent holes through the Teak lid (if it is Teak).

2. Purchase an Original Hi-Rise Chair mount from:
Pick Instrument Products
102 Eastway
Galena Park, TX. 77547

You can see a couple of photos of the seat here:

Look at the last photo above.
The Original Seat bolts to the front of the Bow Locker bulkhead. In this way you don't have to drill holes through the Teak on top, but you do have to drill holes through the bulkhead...

cavie,

Now I am not sure what year Montauk you are talking about as you have posted this in Post-Classics....

What year Montauk are you referring to? I was referring to the pre 2003 M170.
