I recently purchased a 1998 13' Dauntless w/Yamaha 50, 4 cycle. The hull has a 14 degree deadrise. Attwood makes a fin that appears to have a 15 degree rise off the cavation plate. Has anyone used this fin? Logic says that when the boat is on a plane this fin will create less drag that the Doel straight fin. COMMENTS, PLEASE!!

If your motor is set up correctly for your boat (i.e., "cavitation" plate at least just slightly higher to as much as 1 1/2" higher than the "keel" of your boat), and the motor is trimmed for normal operation or higher, the fin won't be in the water when on plane, whether it is a DoelFin or another type or style.
