Has anyone ever installed outriggers on a 16 Dauntless or similar model. i've gotten several opinions on how to do it and just as many ways not to. I was told by Whaler that flush mounts should not be mounted due to hull/structure integrity, also they are open on the bottom and allow water into the foam. Can these mounts be sealed at the bottom and installed?I cannot mount on the console due to the bimini top interference. I know someone who offered to weld up some stainless holders for me if I come up with a design- maybe to surface mount sort of like a Lee center rigger mount? possibly using some part of the rear of the bow rail to mount to?

I believe somebody out there is making rod holder mounts for their line of downriggers that would be ideal for use in the back holders of the boat. Otherwise rail mounts are probably your best option.
