Can anyone give me an idea where a good place to mount speakers is on the 23 conquest? I love music on the boat. Thanks Paul

Paul,
Last spring I mounted a pair of Bose 151 box speakers up under my factory hard top with good results. The only draw back was I could not hear the music (at the helm) well while under way. This spring I moved the 151's back by the gunwale rod holders and cut in a pair of Bose 131's up front. More specifically, below the throttle control facing in-ward starboard side , port side was opposite and slightly higher facing in-ward. In order to do so I needed to remove the molded plastic cubby cutouts to gain access from behind and cut the holes.

The most difficult part was running the speaker wires to the overhead electronics box where the AM/FM CD is mounted. My hardtop tubing is very crowded with various electronic cables.

The boat is winterized and I have not checked the sound quality underway yet.

The speakers in my 23' Conquest are mounted just below the storage/side panels on the sides of the half cabin area. When you are sitting down behind the windshield you can hear the music really well since it is not having to penetrate and open/wind area.

I just put in a CD player and speakers on my 23 Conquest. Mounting everything in the upper electronics panel under the hardtop.
Here's a PIC of it before I mounted it in.

Mine are mounted into the plastic panels to the side of each helm seat. I have flush mount Poly Planars driven with 40 Watts pers side.

This is topic, but as soon as the weather clears here, washington d.c., I plan to purchase a 1998 23 foot conquest from a local seller. i intend to get a marine inspection of the boat and have the engines checked, but i wanted to ask you guys if there are any special areas, problems or issues I should look out for during the inspection or at least communiucate to the surveror. thanks ron

If the boat has a hardtop, inspect the welds carefully. Especially around the base of the rear mounts on each side.
