Hi everybody. I'm Mrs. Chaimemet. Well, we signed a contract with deposit for a new Montauk. I would like to express appreciation for all who have helped us reach this decision - your knowledge and experience was definitive in our final conclusion. I've read all of the postings and responses (many trees were used to convey your info to me).

I have a few comments that someone might find useful someday: I took a tour of the BW factory last week. They pour the molds at 4 in the morning, so a 1pm tour was fairly worthless. If you're in the area, it's not a bad hour to spend, but I wouldn't knock myself out for it. We took the Dauntless 16 for a test drive yesterday. Big difference in the handling between the Dauntless and 170. Chaimemet is a big guy, 6'1" and I won't discuss his beam. With Chaimemet in the stern, it took a long time for the Dauntless to get up on plane. This presents a problem for visibility (when driver is seated) and presumably fuel consumption. So anyone considering a Dauntless might want to look at the weight distribution factor. We ordered a dodger for the bow. This looks like a neat little tent where Dina (our 8 y.o.)can cuddle up and stay out of wind or sun. We'll keep you posted on our satisfaction (or not) with this.

We're having installed: a Garmin 188 C,double bow bimini, 2nd battery, larger fuel tank, fishing package, and swim platform. Boat should be ready in about 2 weeks.

Thanks again to all who were so generous with responses.

Judy :-)

Congrats on your new boat. I bought my first whaler which is also my first boat last spring (2000, 18ft outrage 135 opti). my first season was awsome and I can't wait to put it back in the water. I know you are going to love your boat, congrats again.
