I have a 135 Opti on a Daunt 18. Runs about 43MPH at WOT, about 5300 RPM. Two persons, full fuel tank. SS prop, but I do not know the specs off-hand.
It seems perfomance could be better.

In order to assess the performance we'll need to know the total weight of the boat, gear, and crew when it runs at 43-MPH at WOT.
The DAUNTLESS is a heavy boat. On what basis do you think that the performance with a 135-HP is deficient? If you compare your speed of 43-MPH with target speed predictions for that much weight and only 135-HP, you will find that you are right on the target.
[By the way, please spell the name of the Whaler model correctly. When others search for information they will use the proper name "DAUNTLESS" and they will not be able to locate your articles which refer to "Daunt". It much preferred to use the names that Whaler gave the boats rather than making up new names on your own, as it cuts down on confusion.]

My 1998 Dauntless with two pepple on board full fuel tank and powered by a 150 hp optimax engine at wot throttle ran fifty to fifty three mph per gps.The max rpm was app.5000 to 5200 rpm.The prop was a Mercury stainless steel. The boat ran very well in the 3000 to 3800 rpm range most engine time in this range..I only ran boat up in the fifty mph range two or three times for a short period of time, it ran like it was on rails.
