I recently purchased a 03 MT 170 with a 90 hp 2 stroke Mercury. The dealer recommended a 10 hr break in period for the Mercury in which I run a 25 to 1 oil mixture. The manual recommends 1 tank of additional oil which seems to me to be only about 1 hour of break in, in that the tank only holds 6 gallons. Any ideas on the best break in time.

Go the 10 hours. You won't hurt anything by running double oil for a while. I ran 18 gal of pre-mix thru mine because I had the fuel in the tanks.

Don't forget that you have oil-injection on the motor, so you only need to mix the fuel in your tank to a 50:1 ratio.
