I am thinking of upgrading from my Conquest 23 to a Conquest 26 circa 2001. Am I imagining it, or did I read somewhere that there have been serious structural problems with the Conq 26 hull? And are the boats any good?

I had read of this supposed structural problem online with respect to the defiance and rampages, but never the Conquests. Also read that it had been worked out with changes to the manufacturing processes. Sorry, no specifc, just heresay, Your mileage may vary, etc.

The first group of the Conquest 28's circa 1998-99 had some type of hull problem. My neighbor had his shipped back to Edgewater in the fall of 2001 to correct the problem. I don't believe it was anything serious because Whaler told him to use the boat for the remainder of the season before they picked it up. I have heard of no problems with the 26 or 275.

I own a 2001 Conquest 26. I bought it new in January of 2003 from a dealer who had it in storage for a while. This will be our 3rd season with it. We love the boat. Its really a 28+ ft boat with plenty of room for 4 people to sleep comfortably. However, I am considering selling because we really want to get a cruising sailboat now that the kids are getting old enough. Gas prices are motivating me as well. I have not listed it or even told anyone yet (except my wife!). Was thinking about listing it later in summer. If you are interested I am happy to send you photos and who knows?
