I have a question regarding repair work done on a 1999 18' Dauntless that I am considering buying. The owner has done some light fiberglass work along the keel, which he states is a result of "beaching the boat" along the lakes. I have the following questions, and any help would be appreciated:
1. Would light fiberglass work on the keel be consistent with "beaching" the boat while at Lake Havasu?
2. Assuming that the fiberglass work was done properly, and there is no leakage or water retention, should I avoid this boat (of course, there could there be more serious damage lurking underneath, but I would value any opinions on the subject). With respect to the fiberglass work being minor, I have done alot of fiberglass work on surfboards and paddleboards so I am familiar (although not an expert) on minor v. major work. In my opinion, it is not major.
3. Finally, what would this work do to the value of the boat.
Thanks for all your help.
