I just bought a 1998 Montauk 17 which has the comfort seating package. When I bought it there were pink stains on the vinyl seats that the salesman said were common to the BW and due to something from the inside of the vinyl. Are pink stains common as the salesman suggested and how can I remove them?

Thanks
Dwight

Those pink stains are common to all white marine vinyl cusions, it is a type of mildew, similar to the pink stains that form inside a bathtub. If you can get inside the seats, spray some X-14 on the inside of the stains.

What is X-14 please. I have a '96 Outrage III with the same problem for better than three years and thought I had tried just about everything without success.
Thanks

X-14 is a common household mildew cleaner. It is available in the cleaning section of most supermarkets or other stores.

Just make sure that it's the Standard X-14 (red and blue bottle) not the X-14 soapscum cleaner (green bottle).
