I have a 2003 Montauk that I took delivery of in March. Over the past two months or so, I started noticing a tannish stain/discoloration of the underside hatch for the bow locker. Today I tried cleaning it - used mildew remover, Krazy clean, FSR, Mary Kate cleaning detail, and even 3M Cleaner and Wax. Nada! Nothing could remove this stuff. I usually keep anchor, dock lines, and fenders in the locker. Does anyone else get this discoloration and any ideas on how to remove? Thanks.

Beaner,I notice a small amount of mildew/discoloration when I was washing my boat prior to the Northwest Rendezvous. By using a boat soap and following up with a straight degreaser and quickly rinsing it came pretty clean. I also left the hatch up in the sunlight for a couple of hours. Matt |

don't leave your anchor and line in the bow locker. take them out after every trip, clean them as you do the rest of the boat and motor and store them elsewhere. wet stuff residing in your boat is not good. |

Beaner,Thanks for asking this question. I picked up a left over '03 that was kept in a dealer's showroom and I've only taken it out once. I've only owned it for less than a week. I've left my anchor and line in the bow stowage compartment after my first trip this past Sunday. After reading newbie's comments, I won't be leaving anything in there again after cleaning the boat. Thanks Beaner and newbie. Later, JD Montauk (David) |

no problem dave. i've been called lots worse. i stains in my bow locker also from the previous owner leaving the anchor and line in it. gonna take a lot of work to remove. glad you had a good day at moultrie but i had to laugh about the running engine. that's one i don't think i've ever seen. i have hooked the trailer up and started off towing the boat only to wonder what the heck i was hearing behind me. got out and discovered the trailer tongue jack was still down. that little wheel just wasn't gonna keep up. no damage but taught me a lesson. jerry |
